The Teaching Company and other sources of lectures

Does TTC give out coupon codes or run semi-annual sale or something? I snagged a few lectures at a great price last summer but haven't previously browsed their content extensively. I'd like to order some lecture series for the coming school year but some of them are a little out of my price range.

I don't see anything like what I'm looking for on Khan. Is there another good source of lectures online that I don't know about?

The Teaching Company rotates their sales, so every course goes on sale at least once through the year. Don't ever buy "retail" price.

If you're on their email/mailing list, they often send out additional coupon codes, such as for $10 off, or free shipping, etc. I've also received emails for "every course on sale."

TC has frequently coupons; you receive emails and paper catalogs once you ordered from them once.

They also have frequent sales. Actually, there is always some kind of sale. 70% off is pretty standard, a really good deal is 85% off.

The absolutely best sales are right after Christmas, that's when I picked up a bunch of deeply discounted courses.

Also: audible.com has some TC lectures!!! I got one for just doing the free trial membership.

My email coupons and catalog discounts are expired, or I would post them.  But, you can do a google search of them and their web site has links you can enter through that will be good savings.  (They have a 70% off sale and a few others now, but you have to enter the site through the sale or discount link to get the discounts and sale prices.)  Do get on the email list and you will get lots of sales and discounts.  I've had good luck calling them and asking for their help getting the best price.

Library...many of them carry Teaching Company lecture dvds.

What is HHMI?

Howard Hughes Medical Institute. They have a holiday lecture series on science topics and you can order free dvds of them. They also have some free online virtual labs. I've ordered many of them.

If you want material on history related to social justice---civil rights movement, Holocaust, Cesar Chavez, etc---check out the Southern Poverty Law Center. They will send free teaching dvds and accompanying material. I've ordered several things from them. Look under "teaching tolerance."

Thank you for the HHMI info!

Also look at Audible.com.  They now carry many of the Teaching Company audio lectures and if you have a subscription you pay only one credit which makes them really affordable.

ETA:  Oops, I see Regentrude already said this.
