sbgrace
I'm working with my kids to learn songs for a musical. There are 9 songs. They have their spoken/individual singing lines but they haven't really mastered the songs yet. Well, one hasn't particularly as he's been sick for a month and missed lots of practice. Is it better to concentrate on one or two songs at a time or just run through all the musical's (9) songs each day?
chickenpatty
Can you buy the soundtrack? We did that with Fiddler on the Roof & my kids picked up the songs quickly.

I managed to learn the entire soundtracks to Rent and Wicked just by my oldest playing them in the car, over and over and over again. sbgrace
We do have a CD of the songs. So you would just play them all over and over rather than one at a time, is that right?
missmoe
Yup, use the soundtrack. Listen to it several times a day.
FO4UR
Listen to them all several times per day. Focus on learning the lyrics one at a time. That I do like memorizing poetry. Memorize the text until the point where you can prattle it off given only the first word in each line, and then memorize the order in which the lines come by memorizing the first words in order. Donna
We use the soundtrack, too. Just listen to it multiple times a day.
Annie G
Listening to the songs will help, but many kids really cement it when they learn the choreography to the number. Sometimes we teach choreography first, sometimes the lyrics first...either way, until the two meet, our kids look lost.
