Which Nursery Rhyme / Mother Goose book?

We've been very, very happy with the Arnold Lobel version that came with a Sonlight package. There are lots of poems, some unusual verses, we thoroughly enjoyed the illustrations, and it made for a year of very charming tea-time poetry reading. The boys, at the time a toddler and a 6yo, both enjoyed it.

Drawback: all the people in it -- most characters are animals -- are white people, which makes a sort of sense given that the drawings are of old England, but was disappointing to me: I wouldn't feel comfortable giving it to some of my friends' families.
