Parrothead
Must be an East Coast thing...:D What must? Finding a dress to wear to a wedding?
Nestof3
I love evening weddings because I can wear a black dress without guilt. Just buy a warm, stylish wrap.

I"m going to have to check the book. But I swear I thought I read Miss Manners said no black to a wedding. Maybe it was just for the mothers of the bride/groom. Maybe it was just for the mothers of the bride/groom. I see many women wearing black dresses to weddings. Really, it seems styles have become more casual in general. But, I'm not really the kind of person who thinks manners and customs are static things. I'm much more likely to look around and see what is socially acceptable today. Nestof3
Apparently, Miss Manners says no. Interesting article, though: http://www.glamour.com/weddings/blogs/save-the-date/2010/10/wedding-etiquette-yes-you-can.html Oh, and I have seen a trend of bride's maids wearing black as well. CAMom
That is lovely. But those horizontal pleats will make me look huge. I actually have a dress very, very similar to that one. It's sleeveless and a royal blue. I'm way, way bigger than you and it's extremely flattering. I get unsolicited comments whenever I wear it.:)
claire up north
I love choice #1. And I am definitely in the over 40 crowd. :iagree: I love the length and I would feel confident in it.
2squared
:iagree: I love the length and I would feel confident in it. I would get #1 as well. I love, love long skirts. They make me feel so classy and beautiful. I am not comfortable wearing dresses at or above the knees, and definitely not in December. I went shopping last weekend, and none of the shorter dresses were flattering at all on my size 10-12 almost 40yo pudge body.
Heather in Neverland
I like it. Not too young for a 46-year old? Heck no. Go for it!!! I am 42 and I would wear it. .

Parrothead
Don't be old before your time! Buy something from Shabby Apple http://www.shabbyapple.com/ They are interesting. I wouldn't know where to start picking one out. I'm 5'7", size 12 and have a bit of a pudge in the belly. I don't like bows. What would you suggest? Vintage and Fresh Stunning (but $$$) My FAVORITE! Flattering Fit I also love these two from Modcloth: SHINE Basic Black (would look great with black sparkle shoes) Edited October 27, 2012 by Michelle My Bell
