momma2three
Does anyone know of a very simple web-based game or program that introduces typing and using the keyboard? Everything I've found while looking around seems to already expect some proficiency, and even the beginning levels move quickly. DD is 5 and loves to send emails to her father and to her grandparents, but she's finding it incredibly frustrating. I'm not looking to get her up to 90 wpm or anything: just some simple games that will help her remember where the letters are.
Momofeat
My absolute favorite is this: http://www.christianbook.com/keyboarding-skills-diana-king/9780838825648/pd/8825648 It's not a game, but one of those old-fashioned flip charts with one major difference: they keys are taught in alphabetical order, which makes them very easy to remember. My middle dd, with just a little help from me to get started, used that book to teach herself how to type when she was 7. It only took her a few weeks to get the hang of it. Momling
http://www.bbc.co.uk/schools/typing/ is very kid appropriate, though the sounds on it get very annoying at times.
momma2three
Thank you! Those both look great. I think we'll start with the (free) BBC one, and see how that goes.
MomatHWTK
The Easy Tech program at Learning.com is very easy. My 2 y.o. plays with the Introduction to Keyboard lessons.
susankenny
We like and use both Dance Mat (linked above) and Rapid Typing (it's free to download & then you have the icon on your desktop). Susan
nansk
Krazy Keyboarding for Kids. Silly name, but simple, no-pressure lessons.

We're going to start this next year for ds (by then 10).

Susan I think it's early or at least the caffeine hasn't kicked in. I read this as Rabid Typing.
