QueenCat Posted September 23, 2012 Share Posted September 23, 2012 (edited) So dh decided he doesn't want to do Chattanooga for our 25th anniversary (which is fine by me). Going to do St. Louis for a quick trip (our anniversary is in late December, to crazy to go for a longer trip then), and then something special a few months later, when things aren't as hectic. Yes, sometime that week but not on the actual holidays. I know... it'll be cold but we've done Boston that week so I think we can handle Missouri. We rode out a tornado on New Year's Eve two years ago in a restaurant. :D Wicked is playing at the Fox Theater that week, and the Saint Louis Symphony is performing that weekend. The carriage rides downtown should be running, and it will be beautiful downtown with all the decorations. There's the casinos, but they aren't really my thing. If the NHL lockout ends, we might have hockey. Still thinking. We aren't into casinos either.... I'm bored after about 30 minutes. We do love the symphony, and want to do some touristy things, like the Arch. How is the City Museum? It is fabulous, and two young-at-heart and mobile adults get a lot more out of it than if you had younger kids who needed to be supervised, which is a pain in the tunnels and slides. It is the right place to entertain your inner child ;-) St Louis Symphony Orchestra is world class. See if you can get tickets; they perform in Powell hall. Art museum is nice, but not spectacular; if you are from a large city, you may have seen better. But it's free. Arch is a must-do for out of town visitors and well worth a visit if you have not been there. Enough to do without the kids though? The Arch is a must do, I've never been but dh has.... I looked at the symphony site but am not interested in watching Pirates of the Caribbean on the screen with the symphony playing. Dh and the kids did something like that with Star Wars & liked it but that's not really what I think of for the symphony. Forest Park attractions are mostly free (Art Museum, Science Museum with IMAX--could have adult content, Zoo, Missouri Historical Museum, Muny Theater--outdoor theater, so nix that) I also wouldn't do the City Museum without kids.
