campmom
I am looking for cd's of poetry for my children to listen to while in the car, etc. We will choose some of them to memorize. I am looking at Linguistic Development through Poetry, does anyone know of any other good poetry cd's ? thanks
MeaganS
It looks like I'm answering on a lot of your posts this morning! I really enjoy Favourite Poems for Children. My 4 year old has memorized large sections of several of the poems and has been using sections of them in her play, too. I think there is a good mix of serious poems for kids and silly ones as well. I especially like the ones that Anton Lesser, Anne Harvey, and Roy McMillan narrate. The other readers are more ok for me. Here is a link where you can hear the samples and see what all the poems are and here's a link where you can buy it. I've never met anyone who's even heard of it. I was starting to think that I had the only copy. :)
caedmyn
I haven't listened to any yet, but there's a few free collections on Librivox (Child's Garden of Verses IIRC and some others). Peace Hill Press's CD that goes with...FLL 1 is it? Is mostly poems as far as I can tell.

In fact, I posted about it last year. Our library has it. http://forums.welltrainedmind.com/showthread.php?t=290068&highlight=poetry
Miss Tick
We have Poetry Speaks to Children which is a book and a cd. The cd is recordings by the authors. Oddly, there are more recordings on the cd than are listed in the playlist. I don't know that I've listened all the way to the end because I got sidetracked trying to update the track numbers for all the performed poems... campmom
Thanks everyone, my boys love to listen to audio books but I just realized that I don't have any poetry for them to listen to. I am going to go check some of these out.
