DawnM
She is here in NC visiting so it has to be portable. She is 81 so anything techie is completely out. She doesn't even use a computer! They don't have high speed internet, Dad still uses dial up. She does read a lot, but a Kindle or Nook would not work for her as she wouldn't be able to figure out how to use it nor does she have internet. It has to be something she can take back on the plane with her. They don't shop much, so not sure a gift card would be a great idea. I am just at a loss. Alte Veste Academy
I get Kikkerland Rainbow Makers for almost everyone at some point. I love these things! It is so enchanting to see the twirling rainbows all over my house every sunny afternoon. If you put it in an eastern facing window, you get to wake up to rainbows. As a plus, it will fit in her purse. :D Edited May 10, 2012 by Alte Veste Academy
Halftime Hope
An electronic photo frame that you load with family photos before she goes home.
DawnM
Thanks. Keep the ideas coming. The electronic photo things are cool but she says she doesn't like them because she likes to be able to find specific pictures when she wants (photo album style). If there is a way to find a specific photo on those things she won't be able to remember how. She is NOT thechie savvy in any sense of the word and gets very overwhelmed at fairly simple stuff. J-rap
A gift certificate for a restaurant in her area? You can often arrange this over the phone. (And you can tell her in a card that she'll be getting it in the mail.) Or, a gift certificate at a hair salon in her area? A book store?
