mama2cntrykids
I don't have either on hand and it's raining/chilly, so I really don't want to load the four kids in the van and drive 30 mins round trip to get some. Ideas? I do have white sugar and brown sugar, milk, eggs, flour, etc. Oh, I also have a can of evaporated milk (I think that's what it's called, its sweet anyway). I'd go check the cubboards, but I'm nursing dd right now. The frosting is for homemade cinnamon rolls, btw. Thanks!
Parrothead
Do you have honey? You could just drench them in honey.
Jenny in Florida
I occasionally make one like this: http://www.cooks.com/rec/view/0,196,150178-249200,00.html It works well.
CalicoKat
Flour frosting.
Belacqua
If you have some cornstarch, you can make powdered sugar; buzz your white sugar in the blender with a little cornstarch and it should turn powdery. Then again, I'm really liking that honey idea.:001_smile:
Lawana
This was one of my favorites as a child.
mama2cntrykids
I found some powdered sugar, but I love the honey idea! Maybe I'll do half honey and the other half of the batch regular frosting (some ppl in the house don't like honey).
mommaduck
If the canned milk is sweet and more syrupy, then it's condensed milk, not evaporated milk. Two very different things.

Susan C.
You have probably already made the frosting..... but one stick of butter, 1 cup of brown sugar, a little bit of cream/half & half/milk, a little bit of vanilla will make yummy caramel frosting (more of a glaze). Put all in saucepan, heat to combine, yum!
LaxMom
Oops. Duplicate.
LaxMom
Meringue buttercreams don't have either. They have whipped egg whites and hot simple syrup, then you add the butter once the resulting meringue has cooled. That's my favorite kind of frosting to use. I've made the cinnamon rolls (they're in a pan rising), cookies with peanut butter/chocolate chips and Chicken Fried Rice (for dinner). Dh is coming home tonight after working out of town all week, so I want to have some yummy stuff for him while he's home for the weekend. Sorry, I was rambling:tongue_smilie:...anyway, I think I just might make that glaze. It sounds YUMMY!
