would laughing gas at the dentist cause a child to throw up?

Recommended Posts

My son had 4 baby teeth pulled at about 2:00 this afternoon. They used laughing gas. When we came home he had a milk shake...and just a few minutes ago he threw up. He said it came on very quick....does this sound normal??? He ate lunch (one taco) at about 11:00 this morning and nothing else until the milk shake. No pain meds either. What do you think??

My little boys' dentist told us laughing gas could cause them to be nauseated or vomit. She also insists on doing dental work with laughing gas in the morning and doesn't do work if the kid has eaten since the night before. They are more likely to throw up if they've eaten too recently.

I had laughing gas once for a dental procedure. I was so nauseated from it that I've never wanted it again. Novocaine is my preferred poison. ;)

My dd, otoh, had laughing gas once & it didn't bother her in the least.

Guess it just depends on the person.

Hope your little guy feels better soon.
