ProudGrandma
My son had 4 baby teeth pulled at about 2:00 this afternoon. They used laughing gas. When we came home he had a milk shake...and just a few minutes ago he threw up. He said it came on very quick....does this sound normal??? He ate lunch (one taco) at about 11:00 this morning and nothing else until the milk shake. No pain meds either. What do you think??
Acorn
I think it could or if he swallowed blood.
Butter
My little boys' dentist told us laughing gas could cause them to be nauseated or vomit. She also insists on doing dental work with laughing gas in the morning and doesn't do work if the kid has eaten since the night before. They are more likely to throw up if they've eaten too recently. Karis
It made me throw up. Maybe it doesn't have that effect on many, though. IDK He could be one of the "lucky" few. hope he feels better
ProudGrandma
good to know this...I had no idea....my dentist never said anything like that. Is it a one time throw up....should I let him eat something now if he wants...or wait until morning???
Mrs Mungo
Yes, laughing gas makes my eldest throw up.
staceyobu
Yes. Can definitely make you puke. Milk is hard on an iffy stomach too. probably the combination of the two. Hope he is feeling fine now.
LMA
Any anesthesia can make you throw up. I threw up after several surgeries because I ate too soon. You have to eat lightly and sip slowly after anesthesia.
ProudGrandma
thank you everybody!!
higginszoo
I'd keep him on clear liquids -- broth, ginger ale, etc. until tomorrow just to be sure. It could be the gas, it could be the blood, it could be the milkshake ... no way to be sure.
gardening momma
Yes, my dentist said it can do that. He said one lady kept asking for more, and more, and more, until she threw up.
Stacia
I had laughing gas once for a dental procedure. I was so nauseated from it that I've never wanted it again. Novocaine is my preferred poison. ;) My dd, otoh, had laughing gas once & it didn't bother her in the least. Guess it just depends on the person. Hope your little guy feels better soon. ProudGrandma
he is feeling much better now. He took a warm bath and is asking to eat...but I think I am going to try to keep him from eating until tomorrow morning.
