jg_puppy
I wish they would expand to Texas. I would love to shop there. Jan
Wendi
We have a Trader Joe's less than 5 min. away. We do most of our shopping there. We just love their products, and the prices are very good. Wendi
freethinkermom
I am so jealous :D I lived near one for 30 years, now the nearest is hours away. We have a write in campaign trying to get them to move into a new shopping center being built, but so far no response.

Vida Winter
We make it to TJ's about twice a year - when we're in Portland for something or other. We usually stock up on some interesting wines, cookies, crackers, and salsas. Dana

Jennifer in MI
Triple Ginger snacks - on the list Terry - Don't give up!!! People from my side of town have been driving the 40 minutes to get to the other TJs on the other side of town forever now. We just kept asking and asking and it's finally coming true!!! Dana - My sister drives two hours to get to the nearest TJs. They do it about four times/year. I look forward to saving money on my weekly budget. Volty
I grew up in East Detroit, then we changed our town's name to Eastpointe in '92 because -I guess- if we're going to be confused with anyone in SE Michigan we'd rather be confused with you. So anyways the economy tanked in 2001, hasn't gotten better, and I found my way to China as part of the great Michigan diaspora.
Mekanamom
Our TJ's opened about 5 min. from my house last year. I do almost all our weekly grocery shopping there. You will love having one so close!!! I told DH that moving to another area is not really an option anymore, now that we have a TJ's around the corner and a Costco down the road a bit. ;) Those two stores have got pretty much all our shopping needs covered. My grocery bill has gone way down, and the quality of items purchased has gone way up! Enjoy the grand opening!
Jennifer in MI
And the diaspora continues, unfortunately. It's getting much worse. What took you to China? We bought our first house in GPP in 2000 and paid high. We sold it for $35,000 less than what we bought it for. And, we had put $20,000 in to the house. But, we got into a house that is much bigger and close to the lake that we never could've afforded in 2000 when we first moved here. When you come back to Eastpointe, we'll have to get together!! The only thing that is just a pain to get to now is a Target/WalMart type store.

Coming to China wasn't somethng I wanted to do and I felt forced into it at the time. I had flunked out of medical school in 1999 and the student loan payments were more than I made as a substitute teacher and I couldn't bankrupt out of it so I paniced and fled the country. :o I've been here since 2001, last time I was home was six weeks in the summer of 2006 when my brother got married. Don't feel bad for me though, it was the best decision I ever made. Actually I'm one of the most happy and satisfied members of this forum. I got my life together again and it turned out great. My life is really happy and satisfying now. I don't work very hard, I have disposable income and lots of free time, and can support my family on one income. We're upper middle class in China, have disposable income and things have all come together now. Frankly, I highly recommend China. I like it here. Also I'd love to meet you. Not sure when we'll be back. Usualy every three years or so. Maybe 2009.
