dangermom
I have never seen the film Ballet Shoes with Emma Watson. It looks lovely, but is there anything in it I ought to know about? It's rated PG. Any swear words, scary stuff, etc? Can I show it to 3 8yo girls tonight without worry? One of the girls is sensitive. Help me out, O trustworthy Hive members! elfgivas
we watched it last weekend. i don't remember anything that i'd feel a need to warn someone about. (but given my memory.....???) not so much help, ann
Melinda in VT
I haven't seen the movie, but I read the book multiple times. The only possible caution I would have based on the book is if adoption is a sensitive topic with any of the girls.
chepyl
I don't think there is anything questionable in it. It was a good movie. There is some smoking and a tiny bit of drinking, one character thinks two people are dating...or more but it is a misunderstanding. I think there may be one kiss at the end. My 6yo watched with me. redsquirrel
My boys loved it! I think the youngest was... 5 at the time he saw it? I didn't see anything disturbing. Well, a guy does sort of stumble upon a bunch of babies, lol. My youngest was hoping I would come home with a found baby after seeing that. snickelfritz
Is this based on the Noel Streetfeld books?
Rebecca VA
I hardly remember it (we watched it once), but I do remember one of the girls being disobedient to the point of bratty. The girls were also deceptive at times. My daughter watched it with me, and it took a couple of days for her behavior to get straightened out afterwards (because she was emulating the girls in the movie). DianeW88
The book is so fun! My dd loved reading it when she was little. Here's a link to Amazon. There are others in the series as well. http://www.amazon.com/Ballet-Shoes-Shoe-Books-Streatfeild/dp/0679847596/ref=sr_1_1?s=books&ie=UTF8&qid=1328918334&sr=1-
Caitilin
My kids loved this movie, even my boys! As mentioned, there is a tiny bit of drinking, and I think 2 characters smoke, but it is none of the main characters, and very true to period for the 1930s, IMO. A cute sweet movie that avoids saccharine. :001_smile:
