AFwife Claire
Does anyone have a good recipe for frosting for cinnamon rolls, but without cream cheese? My dh mentioned that he'd like to eat cinnamon rolls tomorrow morning while watching the parade, but we used our last bit of cream cheese in a dip we took to a party last night! GoVanGogh
My recipe is just one cup powdered sugar with a bit of vanilla. Add small amounts of milk or orange juice until desired consistency.
Carol in Cal.
If you melt some butter, and whisk in as much powdered sugar as you can dissolve in it, you will get an amazing glaze to pour onto the rolls.
elise1mds
I just make a vanilla glaze for mine... not really a frosting, but it could work in a pinch.
*********
I'd think a regular buttercream would work fine if you don't want cream cheese. Here's our favorite. Super easy. I use all butter instead of 1/2 butter, 1/2 shortening.
justamouse
Pioneer Woman's cinnamon rolls are To Die For. For her glaze, she used 1/4 cup of coffee, maple extract, 1/4 cup of milk and 2 lbs of 10x. I didn't have maple extract and just threw some syrup in there. I think a few tbsp of melted butter, too. LOVE it. Not like cinnabon, but amazingly delish. That coffee/maple syrup thing going in rocks.
Forget-Me-Not
I will ice mine sometimes--just whisk milk and powdered sugar together until desired consistency. If you want something a little more 'frosting-y', combine 1 stick butter with about 1 lb powdered sugar, a splash of vanilla and enough milk to bring to desired consistency. Myeightkiddies
My recipe is just one cup powdered sugar with a bit of vanilla. Add small amounts of milk or orange juice until desired consistency. I do something similar to the above suggestion, including orange juice on occasion.
