kolamum
Lilian Jackson Braun's Qwilleran/Cat Who series I couldn't read those. The first one I picked up was a tad too gruesome for me. I tried another as an audio and it was too dry. I was a "Cat who" drop-out.

SweetPea
My ds 10 has just discovered the Alex Rider series by Anthony Horowitz. I've also been picking up old Tom Swift's at thrift/antique stores.
Night Elf
I liked the Aunt Dimity series by Nancy Atherton. They are cozy mysteries and fairly light reads. I do not recall anything graphic happening in them. I've read some other cozy mysteries that had stuff that shocked me. :(
