pqr
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Alvin_C._York A fascinating individual and man of character. His story makes a nice addition to any study of WWI

Slartibartfast
They have had a Sgt York exhibit at the National World War 1 museum in Kansas City, including Gary Cooper's Oscar. He was a very impressive person.
Mom in High Heels
Yep. He was amazing. When we get to WWI this year, we're going to go to France to see the Sgt. York Trail. It is a frequent place for Cub/Boy Scouts living in Europe to visit. They also volunteer every year to help with the upkeep, and helped on the original build (I believe it was an Eagle Scout project). I can't wait to visit. Catherine
Agreed. We loved watching the Gary Cooper movie last year and learning about him.
Mom in High Heels
Don't forget to do your historic trail patch! :001_smile: Have fun! Oh, yeah! I almost forgot. I'll have to make sure to get him the paperwork. We did the Battle of the Bulge/Bastogne trail a few years ago and he got the patch. He's done a few actually. I should probably put them on his vest at some point.

FiveOaksAcademy
I read his book to the kids when we were studying that era. He was amazing, a true hero, and I loved his walk with Christ.
