PeacefulChaos
I know that this year just started - and here I am planning next! Anyway, I've been making out a basic budget and listing some books that we'll need, etc, for next year, and I was just wondering if anyone knew of any good field trip ideas that fit with the WTM 2nd year stuff? Like SOTW Vol. 2 and Earth Science/Astronomy. Obviously not all of our field trips have to go with the theme, but I try to make our 3 big ones coincide with something we'll be doing. (This year it's the aquarium in GA next month, while we're still talking abt animals, The National Museum of Natural History in DC in January, and the botanical gardens in May, when we're doing plants) I have a running list of possible field trips, but always on the lookout for anything new! warneral
Have anything like this near you? http://renfair.com/bristol/
ktgrok
We went to an Orthodox church last week, while studying the Byzantine Empire. The priest gave us a tour and a bit of a history lesson. We will be going to an Islamic center next week while studying the rise of Islam. We will be going to Medieval Times and to a Ren Fair. petepie2
In NC, there's a Renaissance Faire near Charlotte every fall. For earth science, there are many places to go gem mining in western NC. We just went to the Emerald Hollow Mine in Hiddenite, NC yesterday. There's also Linville Caverns in NC, but I've never been there. There's also Williamsburg for the colonial period.

Chris in VA
ITA with a Ren Fest (there's one in Maryland) and going to a cave! Is Luray Caverns near you? Great Falls park is really nice, too. (I'm assuming you are in the MD/VA/DC area).
ShellChelle
You are on the east coast? If so, the Kennedy Space Center has a Salute to Homeschoolers usually in the fall and again in the spring. We are using Apologia Astronomy, and this is one of our big field trips. happyhomemaker
We are using SOTW 2 and doing Earth Science and Astronomy as well. We are going to the Renaissance Fair, a planetarium, mining for gems, and I am looking for a Shakespeare production for us to attend.
