veggiegal
My 9 year old son is finally expressing an interest in history, and has asked me if there are any good history apps. He'd be happy with anything right now: could be US history, world history, ancient, modern, Canadian (we're Canucks), etc. Anyone know of any history apps? cloversandlions
I don't think there are very many, but hopefully, others will post here about apps I've not yet heard of. For iPad, we have Carcassonne and The Oregon Trail. However, I just did a search on iTunes for "history" and quite a few popped up. Perhaps some of those would work? I'd list them, but I don't have experience with any of them, and I'd not want to imply that I recommended them.

pdalley
My favorites so far: Presidents vs. Aliens US History Timeline - warning - this is linked up to Wikipedia but I like it very much The Revolution - US History Interactive textbook - haven't been able to really read this but appears to be High School or middle school level. Wonders of Old - Ancient Timeline by Knowledge Quest - they also have other history apps. This Day in History Geography wise the boys are learning a lot with Stack the States and Stack the Countries. There are a ton of apps. Which reminds me - I need to go get another Itunes card. LOL

Chris in VA
I don't know if you can do this, but Horrible Histories has really fun online games for free. Our fav is Terrible Treasures. Would that work on an Ipad?
EmilyK
Britannica Kids has an ancient Egypt app but I haven't tried it yet. Edited to add -- I notice there is a free app from the British museum about their Book of the Dead exhibit. Are the Knowledge Quest apps good? SnMomof7
Presidents vs. Aliens is really cool - my DD is memorizing the faces of all the US presidents - and we're Canadian too! I haven't used KQ but they are designed with home-educators in mind so they're worth checking out for sure.
EmilyK
Thanks! I've noticed there's a Civil War app which looks interesting but haven't downloaded it yet.
