Tracy
I am using Art Through Children's Literature. It uses the Caldecott books to teach various art techniques.
CarenM
I will look into those! Thanks for the ideas!
Ellesmere
I'm not sure, but Atelier might be still available through the Homeschool Buyers Coop. I think it hit 40% off. I haven't watched it too closely since I already have an art program, but that one does look nice. ETA: Link ... looks like it is 40% off. twins05
My kids have really enjoyed Atelier and the Mark Kistler on-line drawing lessons. We did level 1 of Atelier last year and plan to do level 2 this year.
nov05mama
I am using the freebie from Confessions of a Homeschooler... http://www.confessionsofahomeschooler.com/blog/2011/06/worlds-greatest-artists-unit-study.html the curriculum is based on use with these books... http://www.amazon.com/Picasso-Getting-Worlds-Greatest-Artists/dp/0516422715 which we have LOVED so far!! They are the perfect level for early elementary kids to learn about famous artists. I am excited to see MANY more sets in the same series (composers, inventors, etc) I am keeping track of extra links on my WGA Pinterest board, which you can find here... http://pinterest.com/workofchildhood/worlds-greatest-artists-study-links/ Edited August 5, 2011 by nov05mama
golfcartmama
Atelier. I have MTM too, and it's great, but we just never seem to get to it b/c it involves me so much.
Satori
We've been using Meet the Masters and Artistic Pursuits. We don't get to art every month, but we've been having a blast with MTM.
Satori
We also use the Mike Venezia (Getting to Know the World's Greatest Artists) books, we are building the entire collection of artists/composers/etc... Thanks Gabby for the link to the free resource using them!
SnMomof7
Another vote for Artistic Pursuits here :). I just wish we got around to it more often. It has art appreciation AND instruction - I love that.
LindaOz
I am using I Can Do All Things by Barry Stebbing with my 7, 9, and 11 year olds. We've dropped Friday science and inserted art instead. It's great to have that time each week. My older kids do their art at the same time.
Ellie
Art With a Purpose. A number of suppliers sell it, but you can also buy it from the publisher.
iquilt
I am using I Can Do All Things by Barry Stebbing with my 7, 9, and 11 year olds. We've dropped Friday science and inserted art instead. It's great to have that time each week. My older kids do their art at the same time. We use this, too. Mine are 10, 7 and 6 and we generally do art on Mondays. They love that we do art every week and it's easy to switch mediums with this program. One week we will practice drawing, the next we might do a marker card and then painting the next week. My younger really just started in this year so he'll get to catch up to what his sisters have already done and I'll pick another book from the program for them. Mommee & Baba
My dd8 really enjoys Mark Kistler. However we currently are enjoying Mike's Inspiration Station.

momto2Cs
We'll be using the Phonics of Drawing for art instruction, and projects from the Usborne Art Treasury along with additional books - the Mike Venezia (Getting to Know the World's Greatest Artists) books - and prints/books of the artist's works for appreciation.
