Ancients Vacation

Recommended Posts

How far are you willing to go? We wrapped up our study of ancients this last year with two weeks in Italy.

I am sure there are things closer to home, however. Not to mention more budget-friendly. :D (We had planned and saved for this trip for a very long time. It just happened to coincide with our ancients study.)

We are tying this year's travel with our ancient's studies. We are doing a Mediterranean cruise that starts in Athens and ends in Rome.

There are some really great deals out there right now (also for 2012), which is why we were able to do this.

Teotihuacan is amazing. If you fly into Mexico City, you can spend a day at the pyramids and a day at the excellent archeological museum in Mexico City.

Southern France has excellent Roman ruins. The theater in Orange, the Pont du Gard, the arena at Nimes. And you can get a head start on the next year too. (Avignon, Cathar castles, etc.)

The science museum of Minnesota has the King Tut exhibit for the next few months.

The Museum of Natural History in New York City is first rate!

Ashworth Archaeological Site - Southwestern Indiana

Wyandotte Caves - Southern Indiana - some artifacts dated to 8000 CE

Pictograph Cave - Billings, Montana

Have fun,

Faith
