80's Again: Yesterday at the library I saw two moms with alligator-clip feathers

I agree with others that the 80s should not be re-visited. But then again I felt the same way about the 70s and apparently no one took my opinion into account and went ahead and did it anyway. :lol:

I was a teen during the 80's. I loved the clothes, hair, everything. It was a great time to be a teen. I do not, however, want those fashions to return.

Today's aren't the alligator clip type, they are actually called "feather extensions." I learned this from my former hairdresser, on Facebook.:tongue_smilie:

Okay, odd man out here. I am 43 and my daughter is a hairdresser. I will be getting feather extensions. I love them.

 

I am a product of the 80's, and I wore the roach clip extensions for "other reasons" if you KWIM.

 

But, I am 43 and also just got a belly piercing too.

I'm bummed that this is coming back now. When it was popular in the 80s, my mother forbid me to wear it. I recall many fights over the torn sweatshirts and midriff shirts. Now I'm too old to pull it off. LOL :lol:

 

Remember the torn up jeans (a la Jon Bon Jovi)? I remember buying a pair of jeans (with my babysitting money) that were completely shredded (you wore colored tights under them), and my mother was horrified. LOL

 

Big hair would be fun though. Aussie Instant Freeze is SO MUCH better than Aquanet ever was! ;)

 

 

I remember this one! Now my daughter is doing it now. I told her the other day when she paid $80 for a pair of pants like that. "girl I can make those and they would look even better." she just went :confused: It was great.:D

not savy enough yet to know how to post pixs here, but it looks like the tinsel you put on the christmas tree. there are a bunch of colors you can use. the hairdresser puts them in your hair--as many as you want. usually around 5-or 6. take a couple of minutes they are tied on to a few strands of hair at the roots and are cut to the length of your hair. i have a champagne color in my blonde hair. i didn't want it to stick out too much, but does make a shimmer when you get close. since i'm a mom i didn't want to be too flashy. anyway, they stay in for a few weeks until it falls out. i have 2 teenage boys and don't get to do much girl things. its been fun.

Stirrup pants were terrrible for tall people. They were never long enough. So the waist of my pants was always being pulled down.

 

My dds have been making the hair things by braiding colored embroidery thread with beads and then clipping them in with bobby pins. They look pretty cute actually.

I was just going to add that very few I knew wore roach clip feathers as a hair style, it was more of a signal to others... They all knew where to meet after school. :D

My dd and I have already had feather extensions in our hair. I think natural feathers are cute on old people like me although I started to think that I need hot pink for summer. LOL. I don't have them in now because it is becoming too popular. Can you tell that I'm a rebel?

 

I didn't wear any in the 80s because I was too busy wearing blue suits, white shirts and silk ties. I did have big hair though.

Hmmmm, yes I agree.

 

I'm actually bitter that the best years for my figure (about ages 15-22) were spent in baggy sweatshirts and tunics down to mid-thigh.:glare:
