athena1277
I really want to open the windows on nice days like today. However, everyone in my family has allergies, especially dh. That makes me afraid to open the windows and let large amounts of pollen into the house. Does it really make a big difference keeping the windows closed? Is there ever a good time to have my windows open? I can't decide if I am paranoid or not.
ChristusG
Last week we opened some windows and afterwards there was a fine layer of yellow dust on the table closest to the window. :glare: I have allergies too.
Margo out of lurking
You are not being paranoid. My ds suffers from pollen allergies. We never open his bedroom window. His allergies have lessened as he's gotten older, so we try to find a happy-medium that lets us open the windows but not make him suffer too much. Look at what is on your cars, and you can see what will get into your house. I wonder too if there's a better time of day. I don't know. prairiewindmomma
It really, really makes a difference. I let the windows open for an hour, and we were all miserable. :(
Desert Rat
Afternoon and evening are the worst because the pollen settles more then. If you have to open the windows, try morning. Unfortunately for us, we usually turn the air on instead of opening windows because the allergies in our family are so bad.
RobinF
We all suffer from allergies and we can't open the windows at all. Some days we suffer if we even go outside.
The Girls' Mom
Our allergist said to keep them closed AND keep a high quality filter on the air unit. All I have to do is look at my car and roof to see that he's right. I'm pretty sure my car color isn't green
athena1277
Thanks ladies! I was really hoping you all would say not to worry about open windows, but at least I know I'm not crazy for keeping them closed. :)
Anita in NC
Last week we opened some windows and afterwards there was a fine layer of yellow dust on the table closest to the window. :glare: I have allergies too. We had the same problem. You could see the pollen in a thin layer covering the counters, stove, microwave, etc....
