Gwen in VA
Graduation is around the corner. Does anyone have ideas for high school graduation presents for nieces, friend's kids, etc.? Several are going off to college, but one is going to be living at home, which knocks off my favorite present idea -- a monogrammed towel set. Gifts that my kids have found useful or memorable -- Towels (monogrammed) Laundry basket, detergent, and a roll of quarters Nice-quality hangers, shoe hanger, etc. High-quality dictionary (but that is getting rather old-fashioned) Concordance A check (filled out, of course!) Amazon gift card Any ideas are appreciated!
74Heaven
For me, cash is one of the best high school graduation presents there is. My daughter put 90% of her grad money gifts on her tuition bill at the college. However, if for any reason someone doesn't want to give cash - how about a gift card at the local college bookstore. One of the first things my high school grad did when they got to college was go buy college-labeled attire at the college bookstore. That age group is generally broke. Ds even got cards w/$10 in them and greatly appreciated it. He even got just cards and appreciated the good wishes. sixglides
We gave nieces a can opener, micro wave cooking pan & pizza cutter. It was what they asked for, for dorm living.
PeterPan
Guess it's the wrong pricepoint for someone not a close relative, but my family gave luggage. (And yes, they meant it that way.)
Kareni
Here's a similar thread from 2009. I posted some suggestions there along with others. Regards, Kareni
