theYoungerMrsWarde
How do I stop this? I don't overreact, but he still thinks it's funny. Should I just ignore it? He's putting his finger in his mouth sometimes, too...
Sherry in OH
Is he putting his toes in his mouth at the dinner table or during playtime? In the first case, stop it on the grounds that it is bad manners. In the second case, ignore it. He will stop before he is an adult. (If he is still flexible enough to put his toes in his mouth as an adult, others will be envious.)
Sophia
When my 12 y.o. was 8, she and her friends bragged about how they could cut their toenails with their teeth :001_huh::ack2: They have since stopped...on their own.

I'm just worried about him getting into the habit of sticking stuff in his mouth. I still bite my nails, and I don't want my kids to have a similar oral fixation. KrissiK
Yeah, my four-year-old dd bites her toenails occasionally. It's gross. I tell her it's gross, but that's about all the farther I go. As she gets older and less flexible, I figure it won't be an issue.

Starr
Eventually it gets more difficult to get your toes into your mouth. I miss 4 year olds! If it gets too bad put on the socks and sneakers.
lionfamily1999
We just told our kids that chewing on toenails is one of those things that should be done in private. It's up there with belching, being naked, and itching certain scratches ;)

NanceXToo
My just turned 5 y/o has been doing this, too. Only he bites at the skin around his toes, (like the same way we might pick at the skin around our fingernails). It's really gross and I always tell him to stop and make him put socks back on when I see him doing it, but it seems to be becoming a habit! I wish he'd stop!
