Violet Crown
We're about to updgrade our Snap Circuits 100 kit. Dd8 is frantically All About Electricity right now. We can get upgrade kits that go up to levels 300, 500, and 750. Has anyone gotten up to these levels? Is it worth it? Is there some point at which there isn't much educational payback for the investment?
JudoMom
I just bought the upgrade to go from 500 to 750. I really think this is an item where bigger is better :).
Jonibee
We've upgraded the past 2 years to 300 and then 500. This year my boys are getting Snaptricity (7-yo) and the Rover kit (12-yo). I think these have been among the best "toy investments" I've made and are often used around here.
FrogMom5
You might be interested in the Edison Project from Quick Study Labs. It is a series of classes for elementary age children that uses the Snap Circuits kit. My oldest is taking the Intro. to Electronics class right now and loving it. I will probably enroll my middle ds in the Edison Project next fall. Just an idea.
Violet Crown
Thanks for the help! Dh is in firm agreement with maximizing if it keeps getting better, so we'll go that way. I'll check out the Edison Project. Sounds promising.
Hedgehogs4
my ds 9 is the same right now, so we went all out and bought him the 750 for Christmas, with the hopes that he'll "grow into it." The way he is, he will obsess on it until he has mastered it, so I figured I'd buy a big enough set to keep him busy for a good.long.while. Should save us money in the long run because we've been supporting Radio Shack more than we should be lately.

Something else to budget in for next year...
Ohdanigirl
Sorry to hijack, but are the student training programs worth the extra cost? Also, if you by the student training program do you need the set too, or is it included? For example, if you purchase the Elenco Snap Circuits SC-100 Student Training Program do you need to purchase the Snap Circuits Jr SC-100 as well? Or s the training program just in addition to the set? Thanks. Danielle Edited December 5, 2010 by USDGAL
Beth in SW WA
I just bought the upgrade to go from 500 to 750. I really think this is an item where bigger is better :). :bigear: JM, What did the 750 have that was worth the extra $$? Thanks! Sharon, What did you decide to purchase? How is the Edison project? Spy Car
Unfortunately the Edison Project is not just about "electricity." ;) Rather than showing evidence of "science" it appears to frame things in terms of demonstrating "God's miracles" What a disappointment!
