fairfarmhand
my family does not have regular TV so we buy boxed sets of tv shows quite a bit. I want to buy one for my dh for christmas We are pretty picky about what we watch. Our favorite show is the Andy Griffith show if that tells you anything. He likes westerns, but we prefer to stay away from westerns where the main character hangs out in bars. We have all the Andy Griffith shows, the Rifleman, most of the Hogan Heroes, some McHale's navy... I'd love to get him a western but I am not as familiar with westerns. Suggestions? Liz CA
I just asked my dh and he recommended "Gunsmoke." It was a series some time ago. We too like the Andy Griffith show and also enjoy "Ozzie & Harriett" and "Waltons." Those are not westerns, of course but rather kid-friendly and enjoyable. unsinkable
What about Bonanza?
Erica in OR
DH likes The Sacketts and The Shadow Riders (Sam Elliott, Tom Selleck), and Crossfire Trail (Tom Selleck), all based on Louie L'Amour writings. We also liked "The Outlaw Josey Wales" with Clint Eastwood. Erica in OR
Parrothead
I'll second Bonanza. What about the old Lone Ranger show? PS> I don't know anything about either of those webstores.
Chris in VA
Could you broaden your search, to documentaries like Ken Burns' stuff, or classic movies, like Hitchcock or Clint Eastwood (there's a new boxed set of Clint Eastwood movies out, both those he directed and those he started in--and there's a book that is new, too--I saw it advertised on a dvd we recently watched)? Cinder
Not a western, but we enjoy MacGyver here. Cinder
