butternut squash--1 hour--still hard!!

I've always put it face-down in the water, but I read that you don't need to with the butter. I guess I have to say that it does work that way. It took an hour and 45 minutes!!! I had an avocado never ripen, but instead develop mold, so I had it in the back of my mind that sometimes food doesn't soften when it's supposed to. :D Thank god it finally did.
