Stirsmommy
My mom sent us a scissors book by Klutz a few years ago. My ds enjoyed it. We are looking for more of this as he still struggles with fine motor skills. I did see a scissors skill book on Amazon. Also books for more skilled scissor work. Pam "SFSOM" in TN
other than Kumon for K5'er? Thanks I used to make my own sheets using cardstock and a big fat black marker. And if you give them paste and another sheet of blank paper, you can have cut AND paste. :)
Sandy in Indy
I just bought one of the Kumon books this week at Barnes and Noble. I'm a sucker for 25% off! Using card stock and markers to make your own is a good idea.

Zelda
Brilliant idea. Those Kumon scissor books have made a huge difference for my son. He does love those pictures though...and I'm such a terrible artist.

And if you give them paste and another sheet of blank paper, you can have cut AND paste. :) I've always done the practice cutting with cardstock approach but I need to get on to this cutting and pasting idea! Thanks:)
angela in ohio
Pathway readers have a 1st grade "seatwork" book for 1st grade that is great. Also, we use the donnayoung.org site like crazy for extra paperwork for Ker.
Tonia
We just made paper chains today. DD still needs work with her cutting skills - she holds the scissors upside down and doesn't like it when I correct her! I cut a piece of construction paper in half, and then draw lines about every 3/4 inch with a pen and ruler. Then she cuts out all the strips of paper and I help her loop them together and tape them. We like the klutz book as well, but she finds the scissors difficult to use. Kumon has a another set of books - they are smaller than the regular workbooks. One is for cutting - and dd loves it so much, we've done two of them. The pages are smaller and easier for little hands to hold. The Never-Bored Kid Book (evan-moor) also has quite a bit of cutting and pasting.
