kpupg
Can anyone recommend, good or bad, a general health course for the high school level? DS has already earned most of the scout merit badges that might apply, so we need something else. Thanks, Karen
Linda in NM
Total Health...we're using it in 8th grade (the middle-school version) and it seems pretty comprehensive...
Suzybearybake
We like Abeka.
Beth S
It's an easy course, written for Christians. There were 6 tests, and 16 or so quizzes. Since our 16yo dd had already done Adv. Biology, Psychology & other studies, this was largely review (but a quasi state requirement here in KY). She finished it it less than a month. --Beth
Captivated
We did SOS's High School Health - painless. :)
homewithtrinity
My two enjoyed Total Health as much as high school students like anything.
newsong
My ds did Total Health last year and found it interesting. We have used the Abeka books up through 8th grade and my dc have enjoyed them as well. Blessings, Sandy
Rebecca in TN
My dd did Abeka Health in her senior year. It is a Christian textbook with questions, reviews and quizzes. It contains much good information and presents it in a colorful, easy to read and interesting manner.
nrg
Our community college has its required health class available online. This was a good solution for my science-oriented high school freshman. He avoided the potential pitfalls of a health class with college-age students, yet got the in-depth content. He also has his college health requirement out of the way. You might check your local college for this option.
Punkinelly
It opens up a lot of good discussion. Mary
gail
Total Health? Does it take a full year or would it be a half-credit?

kpupg
Thanks all, I'll put Total Health on the short list as well as the community college possibility. :001_smile:
elbac
Total Health? Does it take a full year or would it be a half-credit? I'm curious to know this as well. Also, for those of you that have done Total Health for middle school, and high school both, I'll have an 8th and 9th grader next year, would it be worth doing the middle school course next year, and then the high school course another year? Or just jump into the high school course? Any thoughts would be appreciated.
