scooby-do
Can anyone share with me what their 4th/5th grade schedule and subjects look like for next year. I have math and language determined; just like to get some ideas on the rest of it. Thanks.:bigear:
momof3treasures
I will be using MFW RTR for bible, history, science, vocab, and art:001_smile: Best wishes deciding what to use!
NanceXToo
We're big Oak Meadow fans here. We just finished doing Oak Meadow 4 for fourth grade, and we loved it. We're really looking forward to moving onto Oak Meadow 5 for fifth grade with my daughter in the fall, and Oak Meadow Kindergarten with my son. JudoMom
I'll have a 5th grader next year. There's a link in my signature (since I can't remember what we're using off the top of my head ).
Greta
Our 5th Grade plans are below. What I'm using right now for 4th is in my signature. I'm curious, what new direction are you thinking of taking? Latin: Latin Prep and Lingua Latina Math: Math on the Level and MEP, with some Singapore Word Problems thrown in English: Meaningful Composition, Daily Grams, and Vocabulary Vine Literature: The Hobbit, A Midsummer Night's Dream, King Arthur and His Knights of the Round Table with study guides for each Science: the chemistry books from TOPScience Classical Studies: Famous Men of Greece with Memoria Press' study guide American History: not sure. Was planning on This Country of Ours, but considering Drama of American History Geography: Maps-Globes-Graphs and a 50 states study Art: Hooked on Drawing and cm-style picture study ETA: I forgot you also asked about schedules. We do Math and Latin daily, first thing in the morning when our focus is best. These are our "core" or foundational subjects, so we devote the most time and effort to them. We take a short break after that, then do English and Classical studies. After lunch, we do the more relaxed and fun stuff: literature daily, then either science, history, art, or geography (history twice a week, the rest once a week). HTH! MyLittleWonders
For fourth we are using: Latin: Latin for Children A L/A: WWE 4, Galore Park (I sub. one week of Galore Park a month in lieu of WWE), MCT Island, AAS Math: Singapore, Miquon (finishing), LoF (starting) Science: Singapore MPH (finishing); I'm debating where to go after, but we might do REAL Science, combining our 4th grader and 2nd grader History: SOTW v. 1 (finishing) and v. 2 (starting - again - long story ;) ) American History: for now, picture books Art: Meet the Masters (with friends 1x a month); I think we are going to do Artistic Pursuits at home weekly

scooby-do
thank you all for your quick responses. I am not sure what direction I am heading, just looking to do things a little different and maybe incorporate some more relaxed learning. I do "school" at home; I want to change that. I don't want any regrets later. Thank you for taking the time to post your curriculum choices.

Elfinlady
I'll have a fourth grader, and this is what we'll be doing. We'll have some sort of art as well, but I haven't quite decided on that yet. woolybear
Changing direction a bit here too. We are continuing with Ambleside Online. We will be using Year 2. We are adding in Oak Meadow 4 (not sure exactly at what point--Sept or later) and a very light Tapestry of Grace Year 2, unit 1. I think that is plenty, but I am still tempted by various other things and ds has some interests. I am trying to see if we can weave in: Chemistry (possibly Real Science by Pandia Press) Meet the Masters
