TracyP
Does anyone have any recommendations? Online sites or software to buy would be fine. I have heard of Starfall (I think) for phonics. I'm going to go look right now but what are some others? TIA! This has me remembering Number Munchers - they must be better these days.

Shawn On the Border
Their website, http://www.zaner-bloser.com/educator/products/spelling/index.aspx?id=224 has spelling lists for each grade that you can print out, and games that they can play to practice their words. We also use http://beestar.org. They have online quizzes for math, reading, social studies, and science. I started it with ds11 when he was in first grade, to help him with test anxiety, and now he loves it. Some subjects you do have to pay for. http://www.sheppardsoftware.com/web_games.htm is a great website for map games. They do have a lot of other games that I haven't investigated. BBC Dance Mat Typing, http://www.bbc.co.uk/schools/typing/, is a great beginner typing course. Both my kids used this as an intro to typing (followed by Spongebob Typing computer game). stripe
BTW - I used to have my son use Literactive, then (some months ago) the site started acting weird and now it no longer works at all. Oh well.
Poke Salad Annie
We love Math Blaster and the Zoombinis too! There is also an old game called Operation Neptune that is good. We also like the Cluefinders games. I find almost all of our games at thrift stores for about $1, so we have quite a library of computer games. Alessandra
One of our favorites for the age of your dc is software from Grubby Games -- try Professor Fizzwizzle first. (You can play free for one hour, then buy for $6.99) http://grubbygames.com/ They are wonderful for teaching logic. I also like that they are not loud arcade-style games, plus they have the answers right there as part of the game.
