mcconnellboys
LOL, when I send mail to gentlemen under the age of 18, I still scribe "Master", so I guess that just goes to show how old and out of touch *I* am!
ElizabethB
Our poor language is being horribly dumbed down. (Now, someone please help me find a better expression for "dumbed down.) Vocabulary impoverished. I actually have an explanation why on my "Why Johnny Doesn't Like to Read" page and there I compare the vocabulary of the KJV with the NIV with words marked in color by relative frequency. The KJV has 10% of its words that are not the most common 10,000 words in the English language; the vocabulary impoverished NIV has only 2%. I do read the NIV sometimes, I just prefer the KJV's language, I'm not in the KJV only camp.

6packofun
curmudgeon Yes, I love it!! Also: Galoshes Dagnabit! Tomfoolery Flapjacks Gumption Lollygag Oopsie Daisy (or however you really spell it!) Scallywag Hullabaloo Hors d'oeuvres instead of appetizers!! Forsooth! Rapscallion Pill (as in "You're being a...") Twitterpated Heebiejeebies (sp?) Notice that many of my words are sort of aimed at another person in a negative way? Hmmm... LOL I do still like some of the exclamatory words from the '80s like "bogus", "barf me out", "radical", "cool beans", "bomdigity", "eat my shorts", "lame", "spazzing out". I also cannot believe that "What's the dilly, yo?" is used less often now. Such a shame.
