7yo Boy's Favorite Books?

My DD9 is easy. She loves to read and reads anything and everything I give her and almost always likes it. She's also an advanced reader. DS, on the other hand, really needs to be captivated by a book in order to get through it. He reads at right about a 2nd grade level I guess (Magic Treehouse-ish stuff). I'm looking for some books that your 7 yo boys have really enjoyed reading by themselves. I think once he gets that spark of a few really great books, ones he doesn't want to stop reading, he'll be hooked. Any genre is fine but we try to avoid twaddle. TIA!

DS6 loved MTH and about that time also went through the A to Z mysteries (Ron Roy), Capitol Mysteries (also Roy), the Flat Stanley books, and the Littles series (Peterson). Now he has started on the Dragonslayers Academy books (Kate McMullan), not great lit but also faves. Oh, and he loved the My Father's Dragon trilogy.
