  1. Can it be completed using it only 1 day per week? Multi ages? What's the difference between an older black and white version and the updated color version? Loved it? Hated it? Why? How much time does it take to complete?
  2. The responses confirm what I thought about this program. I own a few of the necessary books already do I would just need to purchase the ebook guide/set and a couple additional sets. My real curiosity is how similar this program seems to NOEO. We tried that one year and failed miserably! Could anyone compare these two programs? I do know that NOEO comes with pre-packaged kits which are pretty awesome. I've also considered just choosing a few science experiment books and/or kits to add to what we already own. I truly don't need another reading schedule to stay on track and motivated! I've got tons of note booking pages templates that could easily be customized.
  3. Earth science and astronomy--Im considering adding this for my son to do along side the science in HOD beyond little hearts. He really loves science and there just isn't enough in that particular guide. Couple of questions though: is it really just a glorified reading list/experiment schedule? I mean I could come up with that on my own! Also would it be too much science? My goal is to keep the love of learning...not kill it completely!
  4. After trying many of the same math curriculums that you did, I took the plunge an switched to MUS. I will never look at another math curriculum in my life! It's so simple and it WORKS! You really can't ask for any more than that!
  5. My personal choice /opinion is HOD. It's so well written and the books are wonderful! If you can swing it and if you dc fits into rev to rev on the HOD placement chart then that's what I'd go with!
  6. Duh! Its late! I do mean the morning bells book! Lol! I really don't need to purchase it because I printed A free copy from the Internet. I just wondered how I was going to know which devo to read when cuz the page numbers don't line up. How much are you going to sell it for? Lol!
  7. Have not us RtR yet but we will next year for my seventh grader. I have however read a majority of the science peortion because I was curious about the work load/ if it was "enough". And yes, in my opinion it is ABSOLUTELY enough for my seventh grader. I especially think if you want more/stronger Cuenca you could certainly use option 1 AND 2. That would really add to the science. About the MOH book...I sat down one evening and paged through it worrie about how "text bookish" it seemed and before I knew it I was drawn into this fabulous story of history! It reads like a novel! Lol! Incredible! I had a really hard time puttin it down!
  8. If you use the free version of the little pillows devotional from project Gutenberg, how do you know which devotion to read, when? In the beyond guide only age numbers are lites and quite obviously they don't line up!
  9. HOD schedule of guides is such that the hold would study ancient history after preparing anyway so it would be the same as you studying MFW CTG anyway.
  10. They do offer a discount for military and missionary family. You need to contact them for that coupon code. They just released a new guide and if you preordered it they gave a coupon code for free notebook pages which is now expired.
  11. I don't think they offer all of the books for sale in their book shop. The book list is a list arranged by genre and reading level with many excellent book hooves for each. They have hosed books frOm many different suggested book lists.
  12. We switched to phonetic zoo by IEW level a is where your child would probably place after AAS3. My DD worked through AAS6 and went to phonetic zoo level b. It follows rules similar to AAS rules but at a higher level. Sometimes I have to remind my DC which rules the words follow and review why. But its largely independent and I needed that!
  13. We hasn't used RtR yet but I have it and am anxiously looking forward to it for my seventh grader. It does incorporate IEW medieval writing lessons that would probably help your daughter in her writing skills. Personally I think the history portion looks super engaging and the the book choices are awesome. One of the books is mystery of history 3. It is used for quite a bit of the year. I wonder I you could have her read some of the sample of that book online then see what you think. A few other titles are available to read online at the Baldwin project. I think story of the middle ages and Gabriel and the hour book. I'm sure there is more but can't think off hand what they are.
  14. We LOVE primary arts of language writing (PAL) by IEW. It's easy, fun, and effortless. Also you don't need prior experience with the expensive TWSS DVD seminar for teachers because the teacher guide teaches you how to teach your children to write. It's a fun and gentle intro to IEW.
  15. They were informative. I didn't have any "aha" moments. However they did a great job of explaining things/terminology. Also i felt that the TWSS was more helpful on the longer and more challenging units. I am a licensed teacher (not that that makes any difference) and have taught at the elementary level--all grades--for about 13 years. IEW just makes sense to me. I really hate to say that you dont need the TWSS or that you would have the same success because you might not. I do think there might be some foreign language in there (sentence openers, dress ups, etc.) might not make much sense. So I guess you could try it knowing that in the long run you might need to see the TWSS. Is there anyone you could borrow it from?
  16. I do think it's doable but it probably isn't recommended. Lol! That said I did teach most of the ancient history based lessons this year before viewin the TWSS. And even then I only watched it because I wanted to become a registered teacher and be able to teach the material to other students.
  17. I love AFF! But it does require you to teach the material yourself and it serves as a gentle an fun introduction to IEW. The SWI would have the DVD for the teaching part but you would till need to work with your child on the assignment. Personally I prefer to do the teaching myself and AFF is so much less expensive than the SWI so actually I think it's a matter of preference. Do you want to do the teaching? Have you watched some of the TWSS? Do you undrstanf the terminology and methodology of IEW? Then AFF would be fine. But if you would rather have a "teacher" then the SWI would be the way to go.
  18. Using 2! Programs from HOD! it will be our first year using it. We will be doing resurrection to reformation and bigger hearts. I'm tempted to ditch our current studies and start new NOW!
  19. You aren't missing a thing! You can easily add copywork dictation and narration from history and science. Personally iew is much better! We use iew and fll and are very successful. Wwe adds too much stress and feels like getting teeth pulled. Although some use it quite successfully.
  20. We have a similar book but not that exact one. The title is similar but it has some art history followed by projects to do in the style of the artists. I highly recommend us borne art books. The projects work and are self explanatory.
  21. We don't typically use them but today I did have dd take the final test which basically reviewed everything from the lesson 1-30. It was a great review and helped me know that she is for sure ready to move on to the zeta book. I only use the tests if a Child needs the additional practice otherwise its just redundant especially if the topic is mastered!
