  1. Thanks! We are doing year 2. I ended up getting the Companion for the 9th, RTD for the 6th, and I’ll use SOTW for my 3rd grader.
  2. I liked the books ok but am not using the schedule since it doesn’t line up at all with the text I have. It would leave a lot of work for me to figure it out 😂
  3. Does anyone have any experience with Schole Academy’s Formal Logic class - particularly Mr. Lockridge’s class. Any feedback is appreciated. Thanks!
  4. Has he ever done Starr Meade’s “Most Important Thing You’ll Ever Study?” Or perhaps listen to sermons on particular books of the Bible - maybe Tim Keller, Kevin DeYoung or someone else. (Chose those since they are reformed Protestant - PCA) I used to teach a group of young women and I listened to Keller's sermons on the book of James and they were great. I took notes and formed questions to work through with the group but he could use it as a springboard however he wants. Maybe even add a commentary to read along with it since he doesn’t want much writing??? I also like Martyn Lloyd Jones books. They dig deep! For that matter - Keller’s books are super deep too but not all of them focus on just one book of the Bible. He has one on Jonah, Judges and I can’t remember what else but all of his books are great and certainly go deep!
  5. It looked interesting enough to me also and I ordered it, but just FYI - the link to the Guerber books (that I also ordered) were newer editions and the pages in the guide didn’t match the pages in the books at all. There may be a fix now, but make sure the editions match. I’m guessing it’s just not updated to reflect the newest edition of Christine Miller’s books. (That is what she sells on her website)
  6. I’m considering Biblioplan for next year. I will have a 9th, 6th and 3rd grader. I’m trying to simplify, do at least a little all together as a family, but also have additional work for my older two. I’m basically trying to decide whether to use MOH, Remember the Days (and let the other books be the harder reads for the 9th grader), or the Companion. I know a textbook is good to use from time to time, but we really love living books. So that makes me concerned that the companion will be too dry. I like that there are additional resources if you use the companion, but I know MOH has their own resources I could use as well. Any suggestions?
  7. Has anyone used the VP omnibus transition course for 7th grade? Thoughts on it? And does it come in the self paced program? I’m not sure why I can’t find this on the website. Thanks!
  8. Thanks! This is helpful! I think I’ve probably decided to use Language Lessons for a Living Education. Hopefully it will be just what we need 😊
  9. I suppose opinions on these at level 3 could help also......basically just trying to compare the two.
  10. Any opinions on Language Lessons for Today 4 vs Language Lessons for a Living Education 4? Thanks!
  11. A subscription to Mystery Science could work also. My kids love that!
  12. How about Veritas Press self paced history?
  13. Do you feel like your daughter is always on the computer for this course?
  14. I see the samples on the website so no need to take pictures, but I’d love to hear your opinions from looking at it. I always love to hear what you have to say 😊
  15. This is incredibly helpful! You’ve hit the nail on the head I think. And the posts you linked were super helpful also. I’m actually considering Jann’s algebra class. I think it would be a good option. This is our first year to farm out math, but based on the past, I know that dd needs things explained very clearly. She won’t put anything together herself in this realm. Thanks for your thoughts!
  16. Thanks! Here is a review that I have read that made me start questioning Saxon as being a fit for my daughter. I’ve wondered if things are being introduced too quickly . “Saxon math employs an incremental approach that introduces a new concept every day (every lesson). Many students grow bored on it, or they can't get it when new concepts come along so quickly.”
  17. Thanks for your feedback. It really may not be a saxon problems but I’ve heard the way it teaches things isn’t great for all students. She seems to need mastery of a concept, which is why I think R&S worked so well. I will say that I have been nothing but pleased with WTMA. The teacher is great!
  18. I intend to do that, as I mentioned. And she’s had a human helping her - in class and on the side when needed. This issue is only about a week old. Until then, things were fine. I’ve only questioned potentially changing when I started thinking about her math history and how Rod and Staff helped more than any other. I’d like to ensure that she’s using the right type of curriculum for high school. And I can help, but only so much since I’m not a math person. That’s why we are farming this out. I suppose when i posted this, I was hoping more for responses on which type of student does well with Saxon, what the strengths and weaknesses of the program are, etc....
  19. Well, I hate that this is my answer, but I’ve been really hands off this year since it’s online. Her teacher has been great. This is really new (the problem) so I haven’t had a decent conversation with her yet or had an opportunity to sit down and work through it with her. We are on vacation but I plan to do that once we are home. She’d kept a solid A in the class so far but has started having the deer in the headlights look lately!
  20. I thought I’d also add, in case this helps - she did mostly CLE in elementary which worked decently well, but not great. Then she went to Rod and Staff 6 & 7. That was wonderful. It really made sense to her and helped her a lot with math.
  21. I think just basic solving algebraic equations. She says it’s solving for “x” with lots on each side 😂
  22. I would love for people to weigh in on how you know if Saxon is the right fit for your child? (Or point me to best posts on this) I'm not great at researching math and grasping which programs are best for which kids because I’m not a math girl myself. My daughter is in her first year of Saxon (prealgebra) and I’m trying to decide if I should switch directions for algebra and up. She’s hitting a wall but it’s hard to tell if it’s saxon or just math in general. (Her class is with WTMA) Thanks!
  23. Hmmm.....that doesn’t sound too appealing 😂
  24. Does anyone know if any other online providers teach from WWS?
