  1. When we lived in SW MI this really bugged me. "an' that" meaning "and so-on" or "etc".
  2. Ooooooooh - can I change my answer? I voted "no" but I might change my mind & use Peek's idea. Brilliant!
  3. I said "other". I'd like it to be forever, but I'm not confident enough in the future to say that yet. At this point we'll do it as long as it works for us. It's working beautifully now.
  4. I was given this book from a friend who used it while homeschooling her children. I am a Christian but I'm certainly not one who believes that Christians need to be always shown as happy & doing what's right. I don't believe that America is the new Israel. So... Can someone please give me either examples of inaccuracies in the text or point me to sources where I could find them? I'd like to get the facts so that I could formulate my own opinion. Please, no debating or bickering. Thanks for your input in advance!
  5. OMG, Peek! I had no idea about the infants... I'm just so tired of people ignoring this trend of life having no value. & the motivation? Power & greed. It's sickening. I can't even be coherent I'm so disgusted. This healthcare bill is frightening & there are so many people turning a blind eye & screaming "You have no compassion". Governments of supposedly civilised, compassionate countries are killing babies with or without the parents' consent. Where's the compassion there?
  6. :iagree: It pains me to hear these conversations.
  7. :iagree: My jaw dropped when I read his email to you. Not much love in there, IMO.
  8. HR 3200 pg 426+ end of life counseling pg 16 regarding granfathering of private ins.
  9. When I read dangerdad's post I actually thought he took the words right out of my mouth. I'm sorry that you've had a sour experience with dangerdad but if you could explain where his post is wrong, I'd love to hear it. I'm sure I'm not the only one.
  10. Yes, I believe you did. I 100% disagree with this. I believe in the principles of TWTM & I'm here because I think it's a very valuable resource/community in educating my children. But classical education isn't everything. I have a feeling that you & I would define success for our children very differently. You know, back to your OP, I don't know why the HS community is held to a different standard. People of all kinds fail. All parents fail their children in some way - nobody's perfect. Why would the HS community be any different? There isn't any "enabling" going on - it's just reality.
  11. :yeahthat: I've been thinking of how to respond to the OP for about an hour & this says it better than I could have. I would add that just as we all homeschool for different reasons, we all define success differently.
  12. I've just glanced through your list but lots of things are catching my eye. Thanks a lot Asta! Allison
  13. I'm new here. I've been reading some of the threads & wanting to jump in but I'm not sure where to start. :001_smile: So this thread came at a good time for me. I've got 3 boys 5, 3 (4 in a couple days), 1. We started HS when we pulled our oldest out of PS K after Christmas. I always said that HS was really cool, but it wasn't for me... & here I am. :D Looking forward to getting to know all of you & talking some shop. Allison
