  2. Could you afford some of the camp? I ask because my son (6 year old with behavior issues) went to camp about half the summer, but those weeks wore him out and he was better with doing very little on the off weeks. This summer, he will still be in the day treatment program and they said they run summers more like camp. And it is covered through his medicaid. YAY! But that is only for this summer. Are there any other camps for special needs kids available? Have you asked around? Are there any other families from the camps you attended that you could connect with and plan some time with them? Maybe trade off planning activities once or twice a week? Just kind of brainstorming here.
  3. At the hospital in Africa where I grew up, they made their own version of gatoraid for the patients. Water boiled with salt and sugar. When your electrolytes are off or your blood pressure is down, or you just generally feel a malaise, they would give their mixture to. Salt is not poison if you need it. If you have high blood pressure and you eats tons of salt, then, yes, but salt has been used since the Dawn of time. https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC5103567/#:~:text=On the other hand%2C the,and secretion of gastric acid.

  5. I have a CRV. Everyone I know who has one loves it. But any mini-SUV would probably work. Dh wants to look at the Toyota Rav4s for our next car. He also wants to look at the Honda Highlander. That might work for you as well. I don't know what your budget is. I have the base model CRV. We got it for my son and then he ended up using the Camry more and I liked the CRV so I took it. If I had known it was for me, I probably would have gone with at least a mid-grade model, but whatever. We got it in 2020 from a private party and it was a 2014 model and we paid $12,000 for it.
  6. If you look at the link I posted, you can see why I focused on the South.
  7. I would need to see if anything like that exists. I live about 3 hours away from where my mom grew up.
  8. I wonder why you are asking that question? https://www.worldatlas.com/articles/which-u-s-states-had-the-most-slaves-at-the-start-of-the-civil-war.html#:~:text=Distribution of Slaves&text=Virginia with 490%2C867 slaves took,in other states as well.
  9. Did your family own people during slavery? Mine did. Well, my mom's side is from SC and they had slaves. Not many, as they weren't very wealthy, but they had some. Dad's family was not from the South and never owned people and were very outspokenly against it. I wish I could find more information about those times in my family's history. Someone did write some things down but I haven't seen it. And I have heard some of his writings are inaccurate, but I would still like to see if there are any names or anything in there. I really hope their slave's dependents are doing well and thriving now. Just my Saturday morning musings.
  10. I am so shocked. I enjoyed her. I am so sorry for her family.
  11. I love how people don't understand the difference between offending without knowing it and blatantly offending. Apparently Gen something or other is offended that we Gen X folks use punctuation in our text messages. They said the thumbs up was aggressive and that punctuation was showing anger or some such nonsense. I think I would like to have said to her, "Sounds like somebody needs to find their safe space."
  12. I just commented on something on tiktok because the dad of a 6 year old girl used the F word multiple times to the daughter! I got roasted. People came on there, tagged me, and said the F word over and over again. The content creator made an entire video with my comment and said the F word over and over again and told me to F off. I blocked everyone involved, but THIS is why we can't get anything done to kids in the schools. The parents are rude, in your face, cussing, telling you "You blankety blank, don't you tell my angel what to F-ing do! This isn't his F-ing fault!" People. It is just horrible out there. ANd I love the comment about the illusion of power. 100%
  13. NOPE! I have 26, 24, 20, and 6 Yup, I said SIX! DH even mentioned that maybe we should adopt another child closer to his age. AW HECK NO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Yes, he gets bored. OH well.

  15. Just seeing this and praying they have been able to find the cause and fix it!
  16. Amazon There is literally nowhere else I need a rug that size.
  17. If I can return it, no, I am not going to donate it. If I can't return it, I will just use it and not worry about it. And I don't have anywhere else to put it!
  18. Yeah, it is the one with some rust tones in it.
  19. Peets in the grocery store seems to have gone down hill a bit. I used to go to the one in Pasadena and loved it. We have a small coffee shop locally that roasts their own beans (or they have them roasted for them, not sure) that I go to. I prefer that and buy beans from them to bring home.

  21. Unfortunately, I can't find the exact one anywhere else, but I can settle for something similar. It just took me a while to find this one.....grrr. And I got a 50% coupon for this one which I won't be able to get on the next one......oh well. But I am posting this here to see if anyone can find it. I found some similar ones but then when I clicked on them, the largest size was 8x10. I need 9 or 10 by 12. https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0C6932G5F/ref=dp_iou_view_item?ie=UTF8&th=1
  22. I guess I didn't quite measure correctly. I ordered an 8x10 rug to go under the dining room table. I kind of knew it wouldn't be long enough, but I figured it would be fine as it is currently on bare wood. A 9x12 rug would fit much better and allow the chairs to stay on the carpet while seated at the table. I love this run I ordered and they are sold out of the 9x12 size. I should send this back as I will be happier with the right size in the long run right? It pains me, but I guess I should. Photo of the one I got.
  23. I would love to change it out for something electric as we just don't use wood fireplaces. DH hates the smell in the house of a real wood fireplace. I actually like it a lot, but it isn't worth the comments for 5 hours while I have a fire going. 🤣 (this is not a bash, he has things he likes that he doesn't do because I don't like it too.)
