  1. I totally did not even think about the laying it out flat issue! I will completely and definitely go with the soft side now. We had hard side suitcases when I was little (the 70's) and it was hard to guage how much to pack or where to lay things on the hard side suit cases.
  2. I want to buy my children a 20 inch carry-on style suitcase to add to their Christmas presents. But I see there’s hard sided and soft sided. I actually prefer the soft sided but hurts I didn’t seems to be with popular, so I’m kind of torn on what to get because now I realize it seems to be about 50-50 of what people have. Any advice? Also, we are not actually planning on flying anywhere, but we have taken to taking little one in tonight, vacations places, and they like to pack their own suitcases or pack their suitcases to go to friends houses. Maybe they will find somewhere, but I doubt it. It would be nice if their suitcases lasted into their adult years.
  3. Well, I seem to have more trouble than care of shoes that I’ve loved or at least liked other people have just like literally I can’t find anyone who thinks my choices are actually nice shoes. I have bought Cobb Hill, Clarks, and Dansko. Historically, I have always bought from Walking Company. But they have shut down all their in person stores. I ordered from them twice online and had something wrong with the shoes and both times I had to pay to ship them back so I don’t want to order from them again.
  4. I bought the Petra ones too. How do you think they fit? Do you think they run big? I really like them and am trying to decide which size to keep. I am normally a 9.5 size, and these fit well in the size 9 and 8.5 but were too big in too big in the 9.5. So I am wondering if maybe I am having a small foot day or if I should just go with the smaller sizes. Also, I have lost 45 pounds over the last year.
  5. What about arch support? Went to that site and I love the look at the shoes but then it said that they’re flat and they don’t have any arch support. But they said you can add inserts. What have you done about this? Or is it just not an issue for you?
  6. I am going through what I will henceforth refer to as "The Great Shoe Fiasco of 2023." Simply, I bought a pair of shoes for the fall that I thought were so cute! They were red Mary Jane clogs, more of an off red. I envisioned "styling" them too. I was going to buy lace socks to wear with them even! They were awesome! And in my excitement, I went to show my husband and he hated them. He was revolted by them. He thought I was trying to put one over on him. He did the thing where he cocks his head to the side and says "really? really?" and then makes the duck lips with the side eye acting as if I was really just playing a joke on him. If you know me, you know I do not joke like that and I definitely do not spend money to play a joke. I was crushed. Then he said he would go shopping with me to pick out some good shoes. I did order two other pairs online, both of which he hated, but was not so revolted by. Thursday through Saturday were spent going to various stores, looking at shoes. What I learned is that he wished he had married someone else. Okay, so he did not say that specifically. But what it turned out is that he really thinks women wear high heels for every day casual wear. Before me, as in, 30+ years ago, he dated this awful woman who wore heels all the time. She was really awful. She cheated on him and even spent time in jail for stealing from her employer. She was a sk@nk. She would also call my husband, even after we were married, trying to get him to do "stuff" with her and insisted that I would never find out. My husband hated all the shoes that were not high heels. Fortunately, we spent enough time out and I told him to look around at what women wear and NO ONE was wearing heels. Finally, after about a day of shopping, he said "I guess women do not wear heels anymore?" I told him I needed casual shoes for colder weather, not tennis shoes. And unless someone is at a wedding, or working in a professional (such as banking) type environment, or they were street walking, they would not wear heels likely. He had been insisting, when I would complain heels were uncomfortable and would hurt my feet and be difficult to walk in when grocery shopping, he insisted everyone did it and I would get used to them. But, then he seemed to back off on the heels idea, sort of. He never did like any other shoes, other than the high heels. And he still insists he is revolted by the first pair. <sigh> I think I will wait a few weeks and then discretely buy a pair and just stick them in the closet where he might not notice them. I am doubting he pays that much attention to what is on my feet anyway. (waiting a few weeks so he forgets about "us" picking out a pair of shoes for me).
  7. I think this is likely my issue. These are clogs and meant to fit on the bigger side. And one of my feet is slightly bigger than the other. Do you wear your clogs without socks?
  8. I tried them on and walked maybe 20 feet and back, that is all. I could try to wear, just around the house, for a day. I am thinking maybe "try before you buy" could mean to keep them on a few hours?
  9. I did, but it did not work out. That was mostly because one parent made messes and left them for the other to clean it up.
  10. They put that there because it is autofill. It is much easier to send than actually trying to type out whatever. Plus, some people never remove when no longer available even though they claim they will.
  11. I need new shoes for dress, for church and such. I found some nice ones. I need comfort. I struggle with feet pain if I have the wrong shoes. I usually wear walking shoes (Hoka to be specific). I am solidly a size 9.5 in American brand shoes. I learned my lesson once when a guy at a shoe store insisted I needed a 9. I went with it but after wearing the shoes for one entire day, they were clearly too small. They did not seem too small when I tried them on, but after having them on all day (at Disney World), I was in pain and knew for sure they were too small. Ever since, I have refused to purchase anything but 9.5. Now, these Dansko shoes, which are Mary Jane Beatrice style, I ordered in a 40, which everything I see says is equal to 9.5 in American sizes. but they are big on me. They are not so big that I could not wear them, but they have room to grow, so to speak. So I ordered a 39. This is through try-before-you-buy on Amazon. The 39 seems to fit perfectly. These shoes are too expensive for me to just go with the 39 only to find out that the first time I have to wear them all day, they are too small. Please help! I need advice. Since these would be dress shoes, I likely would never wear anything but dress socks with them, meaning thin socks. BUT, I still don't want to spend this money only to have them too small. On the same token, too big can be an issue too. Maybe I should just give up and go back to my 15 year old (and dog chewed on) dress shoes that look worn out. I hope I can get some good guidance here.
  12. The answer is no. No way. That is not okay. I just tell her, kindly, as she is clearly grieving too, that it is not what the family has decided to do. I am very sorry for your losses!
  13. It is a good thing I tried the garland out because they were all wrong. I returned them and Costco had a garland I liked way better. I brought it home and tried it out and love it!
  14. I never take down before the Epiphany. But I am generally quite anxious to get it down then so I get it all down very fast.
  15. If you do not dislike your job (as in, don't dislike it, but just don't like it) but want the money, then stay with it. If you do not need the money and are just doing this to have a thing to do, then start looking for something more fulfilling.
  16. I hope you get your money back as fast as possible and move on. I am so sorry all this has happened! Also, if the banks owns it and you still want this house, you can likely get it for cheaper later. Just get your money back as fast as you can.
  17. I am considering this. Problem is though, it is a very red decorative shiny one. But I do think I could add orange and maybe even purple to it and it would look fall-ish. Thank you! Oh, I am going to try to add a link to show which one I got. It is this one..in the red. https://www.costco.com/9'-pre-lit-led-decorated-artificial-garland.product.4000174933.html
  18. Lately, we have made two meals that turned out very well. One was Mississippi Pot Roast. We served this and bought small potatoes that had a variety of colors from the farmer's market. I cut them up in to smaller pieces. I put them in a bowl and added olive oil, rosemary, garlic powder, salt, and a dash of pepper. Then, after mixing well, I put on a cookie sheet and baked for almost an hour at 400 degrees. It was THE BEST!!!!! Mississippi Pot Roast recipes are all over the internet so you won't have trouble finding it. The other meal, my husband made so I do not have the recipe. But it was basically a Greek chicken kabob with a Feta/yogurt type sauce for dipping. It was yummy!!!! I served a Greek salad on the side.
  19. Here is my issue. I bought from Costco this year. Their prices are amazing. BUT, I know you have to buy when they have what you want. Last year, I could not get any because I did not buy quickly enough and they ran out by November maybe. I am unsure exactly when. They have been out of Halloween stuff for weeks. SO, next week, I am going to put up the outdoor lights. This is not a big deal because a lot of people put the lights up early and then just don't turn them on until November or closer to Diwali. BUT, stair garland is more noticeable and not just an issue of leaving it turned off and it won't be noticed. My concern is that since I bought it from Costco, that if I do not put it up now and it does not fit, they will be out of stock of everything by the time I do get it up and I won't be able to buy more or return these and get something else. I am trying to keep everything looking fall around here and have totally decorated for fall, so what do you think? Should I go ahead and put it up now for this year to test it out? Or do the work to put it up and then just take it down and re-put it up in November? Or just go buy extra for just in case knowing I will likely have to return it later? edited to add date for just in case : I am posting this on Monday September 25.
  20. I have had this happen too. I went to a salon years ago. They kept insisting I needed dark hair. My hair is not light, but it is not dark either. Some call it strawberry blond, but I would say more of a reddish brown. I hated how I looked. I know I looked fine, but I did not look like me. My one sister has brunette hair and I looked exactly like her, not me. Except she has a darker complexion.
  21. 3 weeks is not much time for waste. Just switch before you waste any more time! I am happy you found out how you feel about this so quickly. I have used something for months before I backed out. I love Jacobs. There are several programs I love and Jacobs is one of my favorites.
  22. I am aiming to just be my natural color instead of gray. Thanks!
  23. I would like to color my hair but dread having to carve out a day to do this. Is this just one of those things I should go out for? Or is it just as good at home?
