  1. I vote 2. I've been having to get up early with dh this last couple weeks and there comes a point at mid day where my brain just shuts down for an hour or so. It's like my mind takes a nap even though my body has to stay awake. I was doing math with ds yesterday and reached a point that I couldn't do any more problems. I took his worksheet away and said mama's tired, we'll finish this tomorrow. Then that was it for me for a while. I didn't do anything else till it was time for supper. I'm not like that when I get to follow my natural biorhythms.
  2. I like that answer that would have backfired on you when at snack time they started asking for oral... snacks.
  3. Yes, this is a huge factor. He was going to go with the one at the cig store but if he doesn't like it he won't use it. A friend told me her mom had one kind, she couldn't remember the name, but it stunk so badly that no one could stand to be around it. As far as smell goes are there any that smell better or worse than others?
  4. The one they carry locally that dh is looking at is called Century.
  5. Dh is trying to quit smoking and is looking at e cigarettes. Has anyone tried these, and can you recommend a brand?
  6. Dumb question: if language is something that grows and changes, and the rules have to grow and change with the language, then how can you ever really have rules for it? How can you have a right and wrong way to write or speak? ETA, I recently typed a word that gave me a red squiggle but I knew it was a word. Looked it up on some grammar site that said the rule that allowed that word to be right was 400 yrs out of date and now obsolete in american english. And then semantic cause us to say things in ways that are incorrect, just because. Anyhow, that's how I came to think about this.
  7. warm tea hurts my throat. Dh says my uvula is swollen and my throat is streaky... and I've got more tonsil stones. yuck. I might have to go get more abx.
  8. I haven't been getting out much because it's just so hot. I could probably go walk around the yard a little.
  9. Dh is going to pick me up some red raspberry leaf tea and I have some mullein. But I have never heard of horsetail grass tea, I'll have to go look it up.
  10. when my girls were that age, they had an hour of free play and an hour of creative play where I would 'assign' a play activity like giving them cans and packages of food to play grocery. And having them make money to shop with at their grocery. Water play is a lot of fun too if that's not too messy for you, and to can add food color to practice mixing colors. They also learned to knit around that age (6yrs), and practiced knitting while I read stories to them.
  11. Like you're about to come down with something, it just hasn't hit full force yet? Is there anything you do to boost your immune system, or to take extra good care of yourself? For a few days now I've felt like I'm fixing to catch a cold, but I haven't. I wake up and go to bed a little bit sick at my stomach. Yesterday my throat started to hurt, and again to today and my sinuses hurt.
  12. I keep a supply of old towels, wash rags, and cut up Tshirts on hand for paper towels. But if I were going to make fancy ones, I might do flannel on one side and terry cloth on the other. I jiggle out any loose dirt over the garbage can before I throw them in the laundry. Because my materials don't actually cost me anything, if I clean up something really bad I can throw them away. But for the most part, I just chunk them in the laundry, then wash all the towels together. For cleaning up eggs, instead of using a paper towel or rag, pour salt over the egg till it's covered then you can sweep the egg up off the floor without it being messy.
  13. My dd just had this done recently. It took her the weekend to recover-- more from swelling than actual pain. They gave her pain pills that did pretty good for her. She had one day where she hurt for a few hours before they kicked in, but once they did she was alright. It didn't take very long at all for the procedure to be done. She was groggy for a little while afterwards, but came home and ate soup for lunch. Snacked on ice cream through the day. She wanted something more solid for supper so we went to a chunkier soup. The next day was chunkier soft foods then back to solids. The worst part for her was her face swelling. She said she looked like Quasimodo. I thought she looked like someone beat her with a stick.
  14. I've been waiting on Discover, Learn, and Play to come up on hsbc.... and it's there. And it expires 8-31. And dh changed jobs so we won't have a paycheck until sometime in Sept. Bad timing! :glare:
  15. That's a good idea. And the magnets could be sewn to the inside so you're not rubbing snaps on... whatever it is you're wiping up. Flannel is the only thing you come in contact with.
  16. On days mama doesn't feel good. Do you have some activity on standby so if you feel bad you can tell them to go do it on their on and still feel like they've done something worth while?
  17. People to people student ambassador programs. Has anyone heard of this? I got a letter today inviting my dd to go to Canada the summer of 2012. How'd they get her name?
  18. French onion soup. I thought I did it about the same way I did last time, but guess not. The port is too strong. I added a little bullion and some water to thin it out some, but it's still pretty strong. Is there a way to fix it?
  19. Oh, I'm so sorry. I can't believe the nerve of that woman! Like you really would not be aware of any thing your child had going one. Good grief. I've never dealt with anyone quite that intrusive, but I did have a woman recommend I medicate my preschoolers once. My oldest kids were .... maybe between the ages of 2-4. They were little at any rate. And I had gone clothes shopping. THey thought these racks looked like great fun and were playing hide and seek. Well, I was trying to catch the attention of both children at one time, so I could let them know together that they were not to behave that way in the store. This woman comes over and starts telling me how her children used to behave the same way as mine were right then and it was because they had ADD. She put them on medication and it made such a difference! She recommended htat i medicate my children because they would behave so much better if I did.
