  1. Do you have a Pinterest account? That's where I find all of my haircut inspirations. I found a collage of nice long bobs but don't know how to link it here.
  2. What is your hair texture? Straight, curly, wavy? Sleek, frizzy? A long bob with the back layers not too short would work well with straight or wavy hair. You could still put it up in a ponytail or use clips to pin up the sides to keep it out of your face.
  3. 50 First Dates The Holiday Never Been Kissed
  4. I use the Tide cleaner, usually every 2-3 weeks. The smell is extremely strong, so I usually use ⅓ or ¼ of a packet at a time. That seems to clean it just fine. I usually wash a load of DH's stinky workout clothes or work undershirts after using the cleaner to clear the strong scent out. I've tried other cleaners like vinegar, borax, etc. and they just don't seem to have much effect in our machine.
  5. Kalua Pork: http://nomnompaleo.com/post/10031990774/slow-cooker-kalua-pig Serve with baked sweet potatoes or cauliflower (roasted or riced) and raw veggies Italian beef in the crockpot: Chuck roast, pepperoncini peppers (to taste), Good Seasons Italian dressing mix (half packet), splash of balsamic vinegar (optional but tasty). We usually serve with rolls or mashed potatoes, which are definitely not low carb. You could do sautéed veggies and/or caprese salad. Taco salad: Prepare taco meat ahead of time. Serve with lettuce, cheese, sour cream, salsa, avocado, beans if you eat those Sloppy joes: Prepare meat ahead of time. On day of serving, cut zucchini in half lengthwise, scoop middle to make boats, brush with olive oil, roast. Heat meat and serve in zucchini. Grill if at all possible. Put your meats in freezer bags with marinade and freeze. Let thaw in the fridge when you are ready to use.
  6. Chuck IZombie -- I hate all things undead but gave this one a try and was shocked to really like it. When the main character makes her dish du jour it's a little gross, but mostly it's more cartoonish than realistic, so it's not super terrible. But even though it's fairly light and comic, you still can't be squeamish for this one. Friends Lost Not on Netflix, but Veronica Mars is a surprisingly good series and you can watch the recent movie as a sort of epilogue. Editing to add New Girl, maybe Parenthood (others love it, I couldn't get into it)
  7. I think we got spoiled by the few post-9/11 years where many factors led to very low fares. Fuel prices were low, airlines wanted to get people back on planes, TSA (and the resulting fees) was only just being ramped up, labor costs were lower as pilots were laid off and not negotiating contracts at the time. After those few years of low fares, many large airlines went through bankruptcy and smaller ones completely went out of business or were absorbed by larger carriers. We are in a different economic climate now. Legacy airlines (Delta, United, and American) have all majorly restructured since that time and are profitable now. As they expand routes, update planes, negotiate labor costs, pay higher fuel costs, etc, that is definitely going to get passed on to the consumer. Add to that the higher government fees to pay for TSA, airport maintenance and improvements, and fares get even higher. Have you priced out train tickets or driving costs recently? That will make flying seem like a relative bargain.
  8. Depending on the fabric, I'd probably spot clean any dirty or smelly areas if necessary then clean the whole dress using Dryel, checking every 10 minutes or so to make sure it's doing okay.
  9. This rice salad: http://www.epicurious.com/recipes/food/views/southwest-rice-and-corn-salad-with-lemon-dressing-358511 You could leave out the peppers. It would taste different without them, but still be yummy. You could possibly add seasoned cooked black beans to the salad or have them on the side to add in. Chips and veggies with guacamole and/or refried bean dip. Both can be made or purchased without peppers. Roasted chickpeas Fruit platter--grapes, strawberries, pineapple, watermelon. Keep all separate, rather than mixed like a salad.
  10. Oh yes, that one is a total earworm for me. DH and I got that one stuck in our heads one night, so we had to look it up on YouTube. That led us to a side trail of all the cartoon show theme songs we remembered from our childhood. Sad that he and I knew every word to "Gummy Bears" ("bouncing here and there and everywhere, high adventure that's beyond compare...") even though we haven't seen it in over 30 years.
  11. This is exactly how I feel. We openly discuss this with our kids, from the point of view that we are different personalities functioning together as a family unit. There are some times and circumstances where one or more of us can be easier or difficult. We need to seek forgiveness and/or a change of attitude when we are the one being difficult, and we need to be gracious to the one who is having a difficulty to help that person out. We also have used it to show that loving relationships have ups and downs, hopefully to help them better negotiate future relationships. We feel it's better to talk about these things than have our kids silently resenting us or each other because they think we (or they) have favorites.
  12. I'm not sure how familiar you are with Lost. It's fresh on my mind so this is way nerdy. In Season 1 toward the beginning, a character named Ethan Rom shows up among the passengers. He works alongside the others, gets familiar with them, and so on. [Kind of like someone asking tons of "get to know you" questions on a message board.] No one thinks anything because there are many people on the island and they are strangers to each other for the most part because they were just passengers on the same plane who now need to work together. [Kind of like how anyone can read and post on a message board and many people will gladly reply in the spirit of helpfulness and community even though they are mostly strangers who don't know each other.] Hurley thinks about how they don't really "know" each other at all, that he decides to take a census and interview each person. [Kind of like how people have started to ask, "Hey, why all the somewhat personal questions from this relatively new person?"] Ethan Rom gives Hurley his name and back story when questioned. His answers seem a little sketchy but Hurley is trusting and doesn't question him. [Kind of like answers given in this thread.] Eventually Hurley gets the flight manifest and realizes Ethan Rom was not on the flight and had infiltrated their group for nefarious purposes. [Hopefully similarities end here.]
  13. Hot dog wrangler. No, seriously, we have two doxies and I feel like I chase after them more than my kids these days. Tangent: I've been re-watching Lost. Anyone remember Ethan Rom and how he just appeared one day and no one noticed him as an outsider at first? Then Hurley starts taking a census and it's all downhill from there. Totally catching that vibe around the Chat board lately, lol.
  14. The first ones that popped in my head: From my childhood: "588-2300 Empiiiire" (carpet company) Recently: "Chicken parm you taste so good" (Nationwide commercial where Peyton Manning sings about everyday happenings to the tune of the Nationwide jingle)
  15. Ravioli or tortellini with Alfredo or spaghetti sauce (premade sauce--can be jarred or homemade). I try to grill extra chicken and keep that in the fridge to add to pasta for quick meals. Cobb or taco salad--chop all the ingredients ahead of time, assemble at lunchtime Quesadillas English muffin pizzas
  16. Sometimes our "mission field" (that is, who we are serving) needs to be at home. It seems like that might be the case for you during this period of your life. I'd also put faith that God will provide the right person to take over your position. It sounds like you have done a wonderful job in your job, but perhaps it is time for someone else to have the opportunity to serve in your church now. You never know, there may be someone praying for that exact job opportunity to open up. Since you seem very concerned about leaving, maybe you could resign but offer to train your replacement. Or offer continued email support to the new person for a set period of time to help the person adjust to the position.
  17. This is just one example: https://www.godaddy.com/domainaddon/private-registration.aspx Click on the FAQ tab mid-page to read how it works.
  18. Usually there is a privacy option when you buy a domain. It's like getting an unlisted phone number. Typically you do have to pay for this option.
  19. Pepperoncini or Italian beef in the slow cooker. Serve with rolls (for those not GF), brown rice or cauliflower "rice", and a green salad
  20. I also use cotton pads and put just a few drops of product on at a time. Initially I was hesitant to spend so much on trying something new, so I started with the sample/ trial sizes. I was pleasantly surprised at how little I need to use and how effective the products are.
  21. Thank you for the site suggestions. I'll look into squarespace and wix. I was reading about weebly and shopify last night, and both seem like they would work as well. I'm glad to have several options from which to choose!
  22. If you could find out and pass along any information from your sister, I'd be truly grateful!
  23. Totally, 100% agree. I'm really trying to get my cooking mojo back, because I know it's better for us to eat fewer processed foods. Until then I've been taking the easy way out by grilling and making lot of sandwiches and salads.
  24. I'm looking into starting a website for a business idea I've been considering for a few years. I've put it off for a long time and now just feel I need to make the leap. Are any sites better than others for buying a domain and hosting a site? I don't want to spend too much initially but eventually I'd like to have a virtual storefront for my products, so it would need to be able to support that potential growth. Also, are there any website platforms that are easy to learn and use but still good for e-commerce? Any books or websites that are super helpful? I'm a novice but willing to learn if it doesn't require too much technical know-how. I'm hoping, at least initially, I can do a simple storefront on my own. I know eventually I could need to call in the experts, but I don't want to invest much in that until I know for sure there's a market for what I'm trying to do. Any and all advice welcome, including saying "Don't do it!" (as long as you can tell me why not and/or give me a better alternative).
