  1. I need to get a new cell phone plan. We have been using AT&T prepaid Gophones, but they get no service in my son's college dorm and other places on campus. Verizon seems to work well there everywhere. I will probably get a family plan instead of their prepaid ones. Are you pleased with Verizon? Anything I should be concerned about? Thanks! ~Sabrina in NY
  2. The SAT is not accepted because it is a reasoning test, but many states accept the ACT because it is an achievement test. Does VA accept the ACT for yearly high school testing? ~Sabrina in NY
  3. Any opinions on this course? How did you use it? Thanks! Sabrina in NY
  4. 4th metatarsal, the bone that leads to the toe, so they gave her a special boot to wear and crutches. Thank you for your advice. It's good to know! ~Sabrina
  5. 13yo dd was pretending she was Shawn Johnson, vaulted over her bed, and whacked her foot on the bedpost breaking a bone:( She is disappointed that she will miss the first month of ballet class. I told her she should stick to ballet instead of pretending to be a gymnast, but it's so much fun to do handstands, cartwheels, and pretend vaults when the olympics are on! Well, at least this didn't happen earlier in the summer! ~Sabrina in NY
  6. Green Lakes or walking down the Erie Canal? ~Sabrina in NY (in a suburb of Syracuse)
  7. BarleyMax is just the dried juice of barley plants and some alfalfa plants. Barley leaves are supposed to be one of the most nutrient rich substances on earth.
  8. have never had a problem. I don't do the Hallelujah diet, but have tried to increase my raw veggies through the years. We juice carrots a few times a week. Actually, I have recently switched from BarleyMax to Bioraculous, which tastes fabulous and has more nutrients. ~Sabrina
  9. You get invited because of your good GPA for regular classes, not honors classes. I am always impressed with students who manage all the extra work in an honors program. Ds is doing an excellent job, but in non-honors classes. Thank you for your responses! ~Sabrina
  10. months to recover. That would be a bummer:( Does anyone know when it is OK to start exercising and regaining some strength? Ds wants to asap! Can you start while you're recovering or do you have to wait until you're all better? He has no swollen glands or tender spleen. His spleen was bever enlarged or tender. I can't imagine months with no physical activity! Thanks! Sabrina
  11. Ds got good grades in college last year (freshman) and got an invitation to join the Alpha Lambda Delta honor society. There is a $35 one time fee and he is trying to decide if it is worth it to join. Does anyone have any experience with this? What would be the benefits of joining? Does it look good to have that on a resume? Thanks! ~Sabrina in NY
  12. I am looking for a natural and effective headache remedy for 19yo ds (read the mono post just below) The headaches are not migraines, just a persistent headache all over the entire head. Has anyone used something that helps? Thank you! ~Sabrina in NY
  13. 19yo ds probably has mono. He got sick 7 weeks ago with a bad cold, sore throat, fever, and headache. In about a week he was better except for his headache. Now, 7 weeks later he still has a headache. It is always there, sometimes bad, sometimes not so bad. He tires easily, and his head hurts worse when he does a lot. When he first got sick, they tested him for mono and it came back negative. He got tested again a couple of weeks ago, and out of the 4 things they test for mono, only one came out positive, so because he still has the headache, he was told that it probably is mono. He had a CT scan done just to make sure there is nothing else wrong, and thankfully it was completely normal. If the initial mono test had been positive, he would have known to rest more and maybe would be better by now! So, can someone with mono have a headache for this long? What have your experiences with mono been? He goes back to college next week for his sophomore year, and I'm so upset at having to leave him there not all better yet:( Thank you! ~Sabrina in NY
  14. I am thinking about using this to supplement US History. Is it worth reading? Any opinons? Thanks! Sabrina in NY
  15. I will call the dr. Monday morning. Hopefully it is nothing serious. ~Sabrina
  16. Dd got very high scores in all the English practice tests she took, but got a significantly lower score on the real test. I have no idea what happened. She thought she did really well in this area. It still was her best score out of the four subjects, but way lower than what she can do. I will look into the Bob Jones handbook. It might help to practice with something different. Thank you! ~Sabrina
