  3. The lessons are very clearly taught right in the workbooks. Perfect for self-teaching. The instruction is excellent and each lesson has review built in, so concepts learned stay fresh. It is much more pleasant than Saxon because you work right in the workbooks and don't have to copy the problems in a separate notebook. There are sample pages in the yahoo group : christianfamilies Blessings, ~Sabrina in NY
  4. I agree that the primary source documents are very important to the course. The new edition is very nice, and has all the primary source documents bound in one book with type that is very easy on the eyes. The two volumes are now bound also. No more spiral binding! I also agree that they are the nicest family and have great customer service. ~Sabrina in NY
  5. It is goes from ancient history up until the present and is broken down into 150 chapters. Each chapter has 5 lessons which include reading the lesson, questions for each lesson, and weekly writing assignments. Literature books are assigned, and a wonderful collection of primary source documents also comes with the program. It is very easy to use and written in an engaging style. ~Sabrina
  6. Best homeschool money I have spent in 14 years of homeschooling! ~Sabrina
  7. Christian Light Math. It provides plenty of review and a variety of concepts to work with. ~Sabrina
  8. You could use Experiences in Biology by Castle Heights Press. It was written especially for the homeschool and can be used with any biology program or books. They also have labs for Chemistry and Physics. ~Sabrina
  9. After 100EZ lessons, I had my kids read lots of books such as the I Can Read series, Pathway readers, and anything we could find that was interesting and at their level. They also worked through the Explode the Code books, and daily copywork. ~Sabrina
  10. We did not like Saxon 54 at all after completing Saxon 3. We much prefer Christian Light Math. It is somewhat similar to Saxon, but kids write in workbooks that are very pleasing to the eye: uncluttered, crisp pages with just the right amount of practice and daily review. The lessons are also taught much more effectively (imho) and retention is great. It is a great relief for a young child not to have to copy all those problems.
  11. We like Rod and Staff, Explorer's Bible Study, and Precepts Ministries Discover 4 Yourself Bible Studies (for ages 8-14)
  12. Two recipes from the cooking DVD that came with the movie Ratatouille: Chicken toes and macaroni and cheese!
  13. Notgrass American History - very easy to use, interestingly written Truthquest History - great book lists and wonderful commentary from a godly perspective Bob Jones U.S. History - good traditional text, has activity pages and tests, good resource to get kids used to taking tests.
  14. Hi everyone! I am Sabrina in NY, (hopefully to be living in VA soon) now known as happykids! I have frequented TWTM forums for a long time, 8 years maybe. I have three children: 19yods (freshman at Liberty Univ., VA), 16yodd, and 13yodd. We have homeschooled from the beginning and have used a mix of several homeschool methods. I am so thankful for all I have learned in these forums! You're all great!
