  1. My son's writing portion of the SAT was his highest, by far, and the writing portion doesn't count at all for his college. He could have had a bigger scholarship if they had counted the writing portion, but they base their academic scholarships on the math/reading portion only (plus GPA). So, have her practice a few timed essays and let her try it. It won't hurt her if she does not do well on the essay. ~Sabrina in NY
  2. Ds took the SAT, then the ACT. He thought for sure he'd do better on the ACT, but ended up doing a better on the SAT. Dd (senior) has only taken the ACT, twice, once this past June, and once this September. Amazingly, she increased her composite score by 4 points, and her English score went from a 24 to a 31!!! June was the first time she had ever taken an outside test, so maybe the newness of the whole thing threw her off a bit, but she was so happy this am when she saw her score that she cried! So, her score is good enough, and she's done! ~Sabrina in NY
  3. Can you comment on how it is going, how you are using it, and how you like it so far? I'm trying to make a decision about purchasing this. Thank you! ~Sabrina in NY
  4. Dd's best section (by far) is English, but she was sitting in the front row and was distracted by the proctors whispering and couldn't focus well. Grrrrr! She said the math and science were hard, and thinks she did well in the reading. We'll see! ~Sabrina in NY
  5. all she needs to do is try not to overlook things and make silly mistakes. She is capable of getting a good score if she is careful! Anytime she has to get up early for something important, or a trip, she feels sick to her stomach, so I hope and pray she will feel fine tomorrow! ~Sabrina in NY
  6. Did you get the 3 rounds of IV steroids on 3 separate days? How soon after the steroids did your sight begin to improve? What kind of side effects did you get from the steroids? I hope it isn't MS for your sake and mine. I have read that carrot and vegetable juices along with a diet of mostly raw foods and no animal products has helped many people with MS to the point of complete recovery. I juice carrots on and off, and have started to juice daily since this has happened. If I don't get to see the dr. tomorrow I might go to the ER also. I am very scared. Thank you for your response. ~Sabrina
  7. I went to the dr. on Tuesday with sinus infection symptoms and the blurry eye. He put me on antibiotics, but my eye is still just as blurry:( Thank you so much for your prayers, Julie! Blessings, Sabrina
  8. the steroid shot you got? Were there any side effects? Did you have to go on oral steroids to taper off the dose? I went to the optometrist today because I have had a very blurry eye for a few days. He said it looks like an inflammation of the optic nerve and referred me to see an opthamologist next week. I will probably be getting the steroid shot. I hope it works and my vision goes back to normal. He also told me that an inflamed optic nerve could be the first signs of MS, so needless to say, I am very scared. I appreciate your prayers! Thank you, Blessings, ~Sabrina in NY
  9. I can relate because I got a bad report from my eye dr. today also. Blessings, Sabrina in NY
  10. I'm on day 3 of antibiotics now and my eye is still just as blurry. I am wondering how long I should wait before calling the dr. back. Maybe I should see an eye dr. just to make sure my eye is OK. Thank you, ~Sabrina
  11. I went to the dr. yesterday because of a sinus infection. It hurts on my forehead above my right eye, and around it and the upper cheek bones below the right eye. This eye is also blurry and is driving me crazy. I've only been on the antiobiotic for one day, but the blurryness is scary. Has anyone had this happen? Did the blurry eye clear up well? Thanks! ~Sabrina in NY
