  1. open safe deposit box in another city at a bank somewhere else with no paper statements going to an email they don't know about that you only access from computers outside the home. Immediately open a separate one after you file for separation and move the cash into that new one and leave the old one with documents because you will have to disclose that one exists as it was established during the marriage.
  2. Several families in my area use Home2Teach which does 6 weeks sessions. https://home2teach.com/
  3. I had signed my son up for the Good Books class this year after hearing so many good things about Angelina Stanford's classes over the years on this forum. While her content is great, her decision to double the class size this year has had such a negative outcome on the quality of the class. I think it must be between 40+ students per section - had I known the sections were going to be this big I would have passed on this class. The chat feature is disabled because there are far too many students abusing it so it has to be shut down and there is very little student engagement. I didn't expect a great deal of student engagement verbally because of the nature of her classes but I thought there would be engagement via chat...but it has basically turned into a rather passive experience like sitting through a live recording since chat is shut down completely. While I appreciate her insights, I can't spend this kind of money on this sort of class experience. I gave this feedback to them last fall, and I hope they heard me. I realize she wants to accomodate more students, but it would have been better to offer more sections than to dilute the experience to this extent. I also think that extending the grade level down to 5th grade has probably detracted as well as it appears there are a lot of immature students which is frustrating to my 7th grader to see chat disabled because of their behavior. I honestly don't usually post such strongly worded reviews but I know people are started to think about planning to the fall already.
  4. @MaloryAnother alternative is to ask HR if an antibodies test ordered by her dr would be sufficient as well. I find that most people are woefully (even well educated people) about why a booster is not necessary after an active covid infection. It also it is not reasonable to ask people who had Covid last year or year before to get fully vax'd. All they need is a booster or single dose. We fail to have reasonable nuanced conversations unfortunately as a society.
  5. This... See if she can get a note from her dr about this.
  6. If he has the omicron variant, the virus is actually sitting more in the upper respiratory tract which is why omicron is so much more contagious than delta and previous variant of covid. This is why omicron is generally a more mild version of Covid because it isn't getting to the lower respiratory tract before your immune system is mounting a response. So OTC cold meds will be very helpful at clearing the congestion and symptoms. If you have a humidifier, I would be running it in there as well to help with coughing.
  7. Regarding getting a booster...there is no point in getting boosted if you got Covid after being fully vax;d. This is redundant. The Covid infection just spun up your immune system response and your anti-bodies, there's no need for a booster.
  8. If you are fully vax'd, you are supposed to wear a mask for 10 days after your exposure and best practice is to test 5 days after exposure. If you develop symptoms, then you are supposed to quarantine until negative test. I know people are not following this because my friend just walked past someone at Target who was on the phone telling someone they just tested positive for Covid and other people saying they tested positive but didn't feel sick so went to church and gave it to a bunch of other people. I trust no one at this point and wear my mask everywhere when I have to go somewhere.
  9. I hate to write this here. The guidelines are due to be updated again early this coming week per CDC because they got SO MUCH blowback from medical professionals. I would go with 10 days which is what it was before all this craziness. I would go and have yourself tested at the 10 days so that you don't have to quarantine.
  10. A fellow local homeschooler pointed me to this. You can send a stamped envelope to get milkweed seeds for your region to grow that help monarch butterflies on their migration. https://www.livemonarch.com/free-milkweed-seeds/?fbclid=IwAR3Mp0SgMLJxBXcAWbLQ6YPzYRDzqcF0D2cnOOUvthAFsOD6TCw0_qhdp3I Here is a picture of the their migration paths across North America.
  11. If she thought she could increase income without diminishing quality....this completely missed the mark. I'm borderline ticked off because I signed up thinking I was getting X because of past reviews and getting exactly what you said what passes for basically a live recording. No thank you. Hard pass.
  12. @ScoutTN I am assuming what I described is not what the class used to be like because I could not for the life of me figure out why so many people on these boards thought so highly of this class.

  14. I'm pretty sure UCB dorms are still carpeted. They were when I was there. I just scrolled around looking at photos...Looks like carpet...very low pile industrial style carpet that you see in office buildings.
  15. Better Chinese curriculum is written for non-native speaking learners. https://www.betterchinese.com/collections/my-first-chinese-reader-homeschooler-packs/products/my-first-chinese-reader-starter-kit I have this, but I got much faster results having my son take online immersion one on one classes with Lingobus. He could read almost 200 characters but would not speak at all. He has fluid conversations in Chinese now. This is really aimed at students ages 5 to 12 though. My son is now 13 but it's fine because he is at a higher level in the curriculum so it works. He started when he was 10. Msg me if you want a referral code to get free classes as you have to have a code before you sign up for a free trial class. The only problem with this is it does require access to a computer as the learning platform is online. When I buy large bundles of classes during sales, I've gotten the price down to about $12-$13 per class.
  16. @Not_a_Number Quote: but at some point, I need to teach her something again. Honestly, for my son, we needed to separate one that. It became very obvious this wasn't going to happen anymore about a year and a half ago. He needed outside classes and no direct teaching one on one by me. We have moved to a much better place with him owning his journey with the classes he has selected. We have some bumps yes. He is willing for me to do a couple of enrichment type things (a book club and a math enrichment) in a group type setting but nothing just one on one. I just want to put it out there there are other options.
  17. I do Christmas Day with my in-laws every year going on almost 25 years since before I was married. My brother STILL does this to me and asks why I'm never around on Christmas Day. I so feel you! Every single year! This year, he had the nerve to fly across the country on a visiting college trip returning on Christmas Eve (got his flight cancelled 2x) and had the nerve to get annoyed at me for not being with my dad all day. I've staying with my dad for for the last two days, spent all Christmas Eve with him, and had breakfast with him this morning. He wants me to cancel on the 20 other family members on my DH's side because he thinks I'm being selfish. If I was selfish then I wouldn't have driven 12 1/2 hours to spend Christmas away from my own home! I never get to spend Christmas in my own house except last year because of Covid.
  18. It is great course! Jetta is one of my son's all time favorite teachers. Please keep in mind this is an algebra based physics course. The reason why public schools do bio, chem, physics is that most students don't have the math completed for chem any earlier. Physics is often at that point taken as a calculus based physics course. The course is very well managed and laid out so students know exactly what they need to do every day.
  19. How are you disinfecting them in between uses?
  20. my husband who never gets carsick, airsick, motionsick or seasick on a cruise ship...did throw up on when he went out fishing in the bay waters where we live in SoCal on a friend's boat. He was shocked that he got seasick. He didn't listen to me and have a just in case dose of dramamine with him. I'm the in case of emergency person and hope I don't need it type of packer.
  21. then I would take the non-drowsy dramamine and have the sea-bands. It's important to take it BEFORE you get on the boat. Then you don't have to worry about it at all.
  22. and choose a lower deck and middle of the ship. Sailing on larger ships is better.
  23. Just in case get sea-bands (those accupressure wrist bands) and non-drowsy otc dramamine as a backup. I find if I don't look at the water it helps. It also helped me to have an inside cabin as well.
  24. Thanksgiving leftover casserole. I make sure I make enough gravy, mashed potatoes and stuffing. Easy enough to make more of this. Just layer mashed potatoes, shredded turkey, gravy, any leftover veggies (I just like using frozen mixed veggies, top with stuffing. Pour a little turkey or chicken stock to moisten. Cover with foil. Bake at 350 for 40-45 minutes until hot. Uncover for last 15 minutes to let top crisp up. It's what my son looks forward to the most. Since I'm Chinese, we make turkey congee the morning after as well, and turkey pot pie shows up later in the week.
  25. This isn't my list, but I copied it here for you a list of art materials to stock a tinkerspace. I love those rolling carts they have everywhere now, but I got mine at Ikea. Here is the one at Michaels. https://www.michaels.com/lexington-3tier-rolling-cart-by-simply-tidy/10503536.html?r=g&cm_mmc=PLASearch-_-google-_-MICH_Shopping_US_N_Seasonal_N_Smart_BOPIS_N-_-&Kenshoo_ida=&kpid=go_cmp-9982987347_adg-98032309822_ad-433378147620_pla-1392121166546_dev-c_ext-_prd-10503536&gclid=CjwKCAiAqIKNBhAIEiwAu_ZLDoxYYe0phov3P8ssWR8nCsyj-Ix1HeV42ArAGV0CoMevO0SXZNg49hoC84gQAvD_BwE playdough washable markers tempera paint white paper white glue collage materials sand colored construction paper chalk water safety scissors easel roll of paper chalkboard cornmeal pom poms big paper stickers yarn beads tissue paper pipe cleaners paper towel tubes things from nature paper plates ribbons pasta beans balloons paper bags plastic bags felt buttons eye droppers colored tape flour stencils pencils feathers glitter chunky paintbrushes liquid watercolors chubby crayons dot dot makers play dough tools coffee filters oobleck popsicle sticks glue stick clear contact paper
