  2. My story: I was eligible for the 12 week FMLA unpaid leave at my job. I used 7 weeks in March 2001 to have a uterine surgery - I had to have this surgery to get pregnant. It worked really, really, really well, and I was pregnant 8 weeks later. DD was born in February 2002. Unfortunately, FMLA is on a rolling 12 month calendar. I had only 5 weeks left due to getting pregnant so quickly after surgery. Doctor put me on bed rest 3 weeks prior to birth. So, two weeks left following birth. Doctor wouldn't let me return to work until 6 weeks after the c-section. So, work had to stuff it even though I was no longer covered under FMLA. But... DD was born on a Thursday. I decided to take my 6 weeks and then 1 day (the Friday) and return to work on the next Monday. They called Friday and fired me since I was no longer covered under FMLA or medical leave...
  3. Wordle 372 3/6 🟨🟨⬜🟨⬜ ⬜🟨⬜🟨🟨 🟩🟩🟩🟩🟩 Finally got a 3 again - it's been a while. And I realized that I must've missed a day about 10 days ago because my 124 day streak has ended and I'm on Day 9 ... Boo!

  7. My DD's case is pretty severe. She faints daily when she is having a flare; when it is controlled, she still faints at least a couple of times a month. She was in a wheelchair for about 6 months because of constant dizziness. She is extremely heat sensitive, so summer sucks. 1st order of defense is: hydration (about 1/2 mixed with Drip Drop or Liquid IV). Second is compression. Third is extra salt. We have not discovered a diet that helps. Exercise: She is trying the rowing machine at Planet Fitness this summer. She has a 3 wheel trike so she can ride a bike without falling off because she feels dizzy. She does the CHOP protocol for exercise (not as often as she should though): https://www.dysautonomiainternational.org/pdf/CHOP_Modified_Dallas_POTS_Exercise_Program.pdf She is on 3 medications for POTS - midodrine (raises blood pressure), fludrocortisone (retains water), and metoprolol (lowers heart rate). She had only small improvements on the first two meds, but metoprolol was a wonder drug for her.
  8. The three of us who have had it didn't lose our taste or our smell.
  9. I worked at both the libraries I work at on Monday. Next year, at least one of them is supposed to be closed per the director. For this year, the board members (all white) never got around to voting to close it. I have not heard at all about the other library's plan for next year. Nothing seemed different besides bank and mail service here.
  10. Unfortunately, it is mainly 3 different people in the family and 4 different medical groups, so they won't combine. Also, unfortunately, I cannot send partial payments for anything under $100 at 3 of the 4 groups. I think I can handle TechWife's proposition. I already have a spreadsheet I update every time someone goes to the doctor and then update every week with our insurance information as it becomes available. I color it blue when a bill shows up with the date, and then I turn it yellow with a note of date and check# when paid. I can figure out a plan beyond the next week or two hopefully. Thanks all!
  11. Oh, got you on the college. I was thinking the online company may have run into a similar situation, so they may have an idea of how to work it. They wouldn't know this cemetery, but they may have run into similar circumstances previously.
  12. It's been a rough 4 years for us medically. I have thousands of dollars that I am paying on already. However, this year has been a lot of "exploratory" appointments for us - ie: "Have you seen a G-I? Gyno? This specialist? That specialist?" I am being absolutely buried in co-pays and MRI/XRay/EKG/EEG bills. None are big enough to allow for a payment plan, but they add up quickly. I am starting to get the calls that this one is overdue, and "Just give us a credit card # today." Well, that would be fine and good, but we can only afford so much. I am currently paying 2 a week (at least $80), which is putting us behind both in our regular budget, especially with all of the prices going up, and in the medical bills. I've tried explaining that yes, it's just $40 to X doctor, but I owe $40 to 5 different doctors, as well as $170 or $500 here and there. None of the doctors seem to care, and I get that, but I can only do so much. How do you handle multiple little debts? Do I just field the calls and continue to tell them they'll get paid when they get paid? Or what?
  13. Contact the church that the college/mission is associated with? Contact the online company you want to buy the stone from? I'm sorry this is turning out to be a scavenger hunt during a stressful time.

  17. I'm seeing around $5.20 a few places (one at $5.19, several $5.22-$5.27). Almost everything was $5.49 and up last weekend.

  19. DH got a rockin' deal on a 2 year old washer and dryer - his co-worker's parents are moving into assisted living. So, he jumped on it. We got a new dryer a few years ago, and purchased a refurb washer about 14 months ago. The washer is touchy - works but would go "unbalanced" if you had anything resembling a half-to-full load. I've already run 1 load through the new units, and it would've taken 3 loads in the old machines. I will list the old ones on FB marketplace later today. My neighbor gave me a pair of dress slacks. They fit nicely but are too long. I found some stitchery witchery in the sewing kit, so I'm going to give it a go.
  20. My geometry program came - they did give us the wrong key. Still need to check to make sure the discs work (teaching textbooks) although I am just going to use the book for DD. Y'all I've never been so happy to be a winner as I am today as my grocery budget is looking sad, sad, sad these days. I won this sweepstakes - https://sweepstakesfanatics.com/prairie-farms-dairy-drink-local-sweepstakes-limited-states/ They sent $125 in vouchers, not just the $25. And they WORK with no problems (I won some sweepstakes before that the grocery store wouldn't accept them or they were expired or whatever)! DH used one this morning. Their milk is $4.34 a gallon at Walmart, but since he spent more than $5, it took the whole $5 voucher off. Yay!! $45 to be used by the end of 2022. The rest are good until June of 2023.

  23. I'm missing my geometry program I just bought. The mail lady either gave us the wrong key to the parcel locker at our community mailbox (it was completely empty) or someone took it. I have to call the post office today.

  25. Everything seems to take more concentration/energy/thought/time these days. It is very frustrating.
