  1. I am jealous! I didn't really need anything, in fact, I have over twelve boxes of books to sell but I just wanted to go and BROWSE! Yea, right! I would have bought but still I can't resist good deals! Hubby had to work, so maybe next year!
  2. We chose not to get it for dd 16 although she has had all the other vaccines including the chicken pox and meningitis (sp?). I asked my ob/gyn about it and he said that if a woman has regular examines that most cancers that the vac is for are caught early but hopefully the vac would decrease the cases of pre-cancerous cells. I have heard many bad things related to the vac, I chose to wait and now feel that dd can make that decision when she is 18 or older. There have been many nuero problems associated with this vaccine among some fatalities. Blessings to you and whatever you choose, this is just our choice!
  3. Both of my dc have snacks before bed! Maybe a few snacks! It is 2a.m. here and dd 16 is heating up beef stroganoff, ds9 just had a pb sandwich and is STILL hungry. Daddy is working nights and we have really strange sleeping habits, usually around 9 to 10 a.m. Cereal is our number one bedtime snack except for hubby (who can't have milk) and he has pb crackers!
  4. My husband has it on our three computers, my gma's, and my mom's two, so far, no problems that I know of. Blessings, Jennifer
  5. I bought the third edition books and although they came with VHS tapes I would love to have DVDs to make it easier for my daughter to study in her room without distractions. I have found the fourth edition dvds and was wondering if anybody knew if they would match up with the third edition books. It's 13 dvds that includes the elementary and intermediate algebraand that is also what my books say. If you have any experience with this please comment! Thank you in advance! Jennifer
  6. My 16yo dd has done R&S Eng. 5 and some Easy Grammar, she reads constantly, even the dictionary! I need a plan to be completed in 2 to 3 yrs., we school year round! I was considering ABeka 9th and on, R& S 8th and on, maybe Writing Strands 5 and on or LLATL Gold. I have also looked at Glencoe's Literature Guides online! I need advice on what to use, I have beat this to death in my head and we are just getting further and further behind. BTW< dd was considering going to college for English. I was going to use Abeka for Literature incorperating other books in as we go! Any and all advice would be greatly appreciated.:bigear:
  7. My daughter loves it and even though fractions was her actual strong point she said she really did learn alot from it still. I more or less turned the books over to her and she has done her own correcting an everything. He has such great info in the answer area that it is a benefit for her to do the correcting! She knows I will check behind her but she has been very impressed with the books and so have I. We have tried Saxon, R&S(worked well), and ABeka, plus many more odds and ends in between. Hope this is helpful and not just rambkling on and on! Blessings~ Jennifer
  8. Life of Fred, Life of Fred, Life of Fred!!! Did I mention Life of Fred?!! My dd struggles with math and has absolutely loved the Fractions and Decimals and Percents. We did thos to get familiar with it and review and she has learned some really neat and new stuff! google Life of Fred Math! Good luck and Blessings~ Jenn
  9. I know what it's like to battle the sleep issues! I have severe insomnia and just when I think it's getting better I get slapped with it worse than before! I hope you find something that will work for you. At times when I can't sleep it feels like everything hurts and that I'm itching or creepy crawly al over. My gpa took ativan for years with no problems. I had an aunt that was given one in the hospital and it plummeted her blood pressure, just be careful! Don't know what rsd is but I will keep you in my prayers and hope you get some relief soon! Stress from all that you have mentioned is probab;y not helping the situation either! Blessings, Jenn
  10. I need a song that teaches the phonetic sounds for beginning readers for each letter of the alphabet. Sing, Spell, Read, & Write has one but I haven't been able to find a place to buy just the CD or tape and not sue which it would be. The one I know of goes "a a apple, b b ball, c c cat..... and so on doing the phonetic sound then a word with that sound. If anyone has any suggestions or knows of something like this please let me know. Thank you, Jenn
  11. DD had Rod & Staff 5th grade(8th/9th grade) English and did the entire book religiously. We took a break and now wants to pursue a major in English with hopes of teaching. Where would you go now. She will be in 11th grade this year and would like to use R&S or ABeka, looked at Analytical Grammar but can't afford. Any suggestions appreciated! She loves to read and write, reads anything with a cover. She played Juliet in the local production of "Romeo and Julliet" and loves Shakespeare. Thank you in advance for your advice! Blessings, Jennifer
  12. My dd is starting 11th and loves Life of Fred, I hope we have finally found the math curriculum for her. It is very inexpensive and here in Georgia they even have it at the library! Good luck! Blessings, Jenn
  13. Great job! We just bought the same vanity at Home Depot the other night, I can't wait to get everything redone!
  14. Praying for you and yours! Dear Heavenly Father please lift up my friend and bless her and her requests in a way that only You can. Please keep Your arms around her and hold her and those she has mentioned through these times!~ Amen Blessings, Jennifer
  15. I found Algebra and Trigonometry: Structure and Method Book 2, Houghton Mifflin publishers, (Dolciani, Sorgenfrey, Brown, Kane) 1986 ed, ISBN: 0-395-35257-6. I paid $1.50 brand new cond. Was this a good buy? Could I get a Solution or Teacher;s Ed. for it? We are doing Life of Fred, Beginning Alg., should I try o find Book 1 of this series? Would you do this with LoF or try to find the Chalkdust cheap version using the ISBN on the boards? Please help, dd15 wants to graduate in 2011 and we haven't passed Alg. 1 and she wants to go to college, any advice is welcomed!!! She is doing LoF Fractions right now and is almos finished and is really enjoying it, but I feel like we need more for Alg. even I just test her through a book like I mentioned above and slow when we nned more, what would you do? Also own ABeka Algebra 1 and up and Saxon Alg. 1 & 2, but neither have seemed to work. Thank you in advance! Jennifer
  16. I think you just describe my dd at that age. We began Rod & Staff and now she is correcting grammar every which way and wants to pursue a career in the English/Writing field! We started with Grade 5 because it is a very foundational level and she has done fabulous, in fact, this is the one subject that I have no regrets in now! Blessings~ Jenn
  17. We love Gatlinburg and Pigeon Forge, our favorite place inexpensive, down home, place to stay is Marshall's Creek Rest Motel! Have a great and relaxing trip wherever you decide to go! Blessings~ Jenn
  18. I have the Teaching Tape Technology DVDs and books if interested, my husband and dd thought they did real well! Email me if you are interested or need more info.
  19. Washing their mouth out with soap can work wonders for some children. It cured ds from spitting on his sister with just one washing! Our pastor and his wife made their dc actually bite the soap, I just use a very soapy rag. God Bless!
  20. I have been using gas for almost 20 yrs. and most of that time was with a stove that had a pilot light and I really preferred it over the one (electric start) that I have now. I like the fact that when it is off it is off, meaning it doesn't stay as heated as electric eyes. We have a Kenmore and I can't really complain, just don't like the electric starter. Good Luck!
  21. My daughter is in 9th this year. We are behind in the English due to a late start. She does extremely well in this area. We did the 5th book after Easy Grammar for several years and her knowledge of the subject excelled by leaps and bounds. She is wanting to major in English in college and I was wondering would you go on into the 6th or 7th book? I plan to do all the books but if any are mostly review, I thought we might could get caught up quicker. I would rather not skip one though if it might leave her with gaps. Any suggestions would be appreciated.
