  1. My main reason for correcting my kid's work myself is so I can have them redo any wrong answers. If they self correct they see the answers and can't really redo them.
  2. We had our table custom made a few years back. It is oak and the top is made the same as above. Ours has 12 chairs rather than any benches.
  3. My littles I grade as we work. For the subjects the 9, 8 and 6 graders are combined in, I have them switch books and correct each others work as I call out the answers. The other subjects, I either correct or they ask another child to correct it. Anything such as writing I correct.
  4. Anyone use this? How do you like it? Do your students like it? How easy is it for a non artsy mom to teach? Thanks!

  11. My 10 yo has issues with his his memory in addition to dyslexia and seizures. He is slowly making progress with reading but I would guess that he is at a second grade reading level. As far as comprehension, if he is doing the reading his comprehension is nil. If I am reading to him and ask him to narrate back often during a section, he can do OK. He is using Winston Basic grammar this year and it's pretty slow going and I am not sure if he is really grasping the grammar. We are taking it slow with lots of review. I am worried though because we haven't done any writing yet. I don't know if I should try now or wait until he is reading better and has a firmer grasp on grammar? I know I shouldn't worry about age or grade level but he is 10 and I am worried he is never going to catch up.
  12. My son is almost finished level 3 of Barton's and I want to get him some readers. I know Barton's sells some but I want to get some other ideas. Thanks!
  13. I know you don't want to buy used but we are using the KF encyclopedia and I really like it for this age. Just enough information but not other the head either.
  14. Thank you! This is what I had in mind. Thanks for the other suggestions, too.
