  1. I'm looking for a simple song book with mostly American folk songs to go with our US History for this year. I just was overwhelmed looking on Amazon!! All I want is simple piano accompaniment and lyrics for so gs like She'll be comin round the mountain, Bingo, shoo fly, etc, etc. Help me shop!
  2. Mine play with math manipulatives A LOT. At that age, they don't realize that they're not toys. Check for choking hazards for the 2 yo though!
  3. Today everyone did reading. Then we started mission clean/organize the school room. It's 2PM now and it looks like a tornado went through. 2 bookcases unloaded and moved to their new home. Now sorting and organizing what came off the shelves.... I underestimated how long this would take :/ DS1 did stats and Chem and has math with tutor in the evening.
  4. This is a timely thread! Today was day 1 for us. No one died. Some cried. DS4 needs toddler boot camp; he wore me out! Only 1 called me mean. Wifi is on lockdown. I'm regretting having the littles break for the summer.
  5. Well, I do see what his complaint is. His writing looks like, well, kids writing. I don't see anything wrong with it, because he's a kid. Things like inconsistent sizing and spacing, nothing outrageous. It's legible.
  6. We're only a few pages in, but so far so good.
  7. DS2 has requested something to make his handwriting "not ugly." He did HWOT and his writing is perfectly legible. He is starting the cursive book this year, and I'm fairly sure that will improve his printing. If he hadn't asked, I would leave well enough alone. But it bothers *him* and he's asked specifically for a printing workbook for this year. (Yes, he does copywork.) Recommendations for refinement after HWOT?
  8. What are your favorite apps for non or early readers? Educational or to keep-the-toddler busy!
  9. What a cool idea!! I would love to be able to travel around and see the country.
  10. Signing time videos are great! I believe they're on Netflix now.
  11. What's your favorite American History for 1st and 3rd grades?
  12. Who needs a chuckle?! My 2 youngest now have imaginary friends. The imaginary friends have been fighting all.morning.long. Oy!!
  13. My oldest is doing WOOT this year too. Guess we'll see you there!
  14. Would he be able to get college credit for these classes? How would that work?
  15. This gives me some hope! Thank you. I guess I need a little advice on what course will come next also. DS1 has done the AoPS series from Alg 1 - Calc. He is planning to take the AP BC exam this year, and assuming he scores well, will get credit for Calc 1 and 2. He is most likely headed for a math degree, but at age 15, everything is a bit up in the air. So, seeing a math degree as a high probability for him, I want to make sure that whatever family decisions we make, he is moving steadily ahead in math.
  16. DS1 will finish Calc this December (AoPS course). I'm researching options for math beyond Calc for him other than DE at our local community college. What options are there? My husband and I are throwing around the idea of doing some extensive traveling in the near future and being tied to the DE CC schedule isn't going to work.
  17. Hmmm, interesting point. I suppose the goal is to verify "mommy grades" and to get college credit for the classes he has taken.
  18. DS1 took AP Bio last year and it was VERY stressful because there's just one test date. He got a 3 on the exam. A couple weeks later he took the CLEP and passed. He said the CLEP was easier than the AP exam. Both scores get him credit for BIO 101&102 at our local CC. So here's my question: what's the difference between AP and CLEP and is it really worth rushing and stressing to finish coursework for the AP test date, especially when there is a CLEP for the same subject? What are your thoughts?
  19. AP Calculus with AoPS AP Physics with PA Homeschoolers (maybe) Roman Roads, the Romans Rhetoric 2 with WTMA Arabic with tutor or DE Latin with Henle
  20. I'm looking for online options for bath beyond calculus that are self paced, or semi self paced to allow for a much more flexible schedule than the traditional college schedule. For credit would be great, but without credit may be just fine also. Where do I start looking? Thanks!!
  21. I LOVE traveling too!! But I haven't done much of it since my kids were born. So I'm planning to take full advantage of this chance!!! I'm going to have to investigate these points. Sounds like a good idea.
  22. Go go go!!!! Sometimes you can get rediculiously cheap flights to London and from there you can take Ryan Air sooooo many places.
  23. Congrats!! It's definitely doable. I would recommend hiring out as many of the household responsibilities as much as you can and insist the kids do chores
  24. *Hugs* I'm so sorry for you. Prayers for you and your family.
