  1. Thanks! I found this page but I can't find a preview of it. Do you know if it has ads? http://shop.nationalgeographic.com/ngs/product/magazines/national-geographic-kids/national-geographic-kids-magazine-u.s.-delivery Anyone know if this is any good? http://funforkidzmagazines.com/ Also, anyone know if Little Passports is worth the money? It looks good but it is expensive. http://shop.nationalgeographic.com/ngs/product/kids/toys-and-games/all-games/little-passports-world-edition---one-year-subscription
  2. I have not used Sonlight before but I will soon be given the instructor's guide for core F science from another homeschool family. I already have the following books: History of Medicine Food and Nutrition Almost 12 Care and Keeping of You. I am on a tight budget (and o/s) so I can only get additional books if they are essential. What else do I need?
  3. I have been googling but I'm having trouble finding accurate information. I'm looking for the chances of falling pregnant (unassisted) and/or the rates of miscarriage according to age.
  4. What level are you most interested in? I can have a look at my teacher's book if that helps. I've used up to grey level now and my general impression is that the levels are all a bit different from each other.
  5. But they had a baby poll on their website and were asking for name suggestions. That looks like they were interested in people's opinions. I personally don't mind the name :leaving:
  6. Of course! Why haven't I been doing this? (smacks forehead)
  7. I have one chicken breast, cream of chicken soup, a red bell pepper, onions and carrots and need to throw something together fast for three people! Any ideas?
  8. :grouphug: Jenna, I understand your disappointment :grouphug:
  9. Thanks - I think I will start with the pre-algebra one but I can't see how it is graded to determine placement level.
  10. Unfortunately LLATL is never clear as to how to schedule their book studies. We are doing Gray at the moment. I try to look ahead and see if a book study is coming up and then I work backwards to see when I have to start assigning the chapters to be read. We aim to finish the book just before the actual book study appears in the student book. So for instance, DD is reading "A Lantern in her Hand", two chapters a day, and needed to start reading four weeks before she will do the book study. HTH
  11. What placement test should I administer for a 14 year old (a bit behind in math) and then how do I work out what level I should purchase?
  12. Ambleside online (https://www.amblesideonline.org/), An Old Fashioned Education (http://www.oldfashionededucation.com/) or books from this site: http://users.gobigwest.com/rosegate/ Currclick has some Christian Liberty press workbooks as pdfs. Currclick has lots of stuff that could suit. Learning Language arts through Literature can be bought in digital form. http://www.commonsensepress.com/mm5/merchant.mvc MEP math: http://www.cimt.plymouth.ac.uk/projects/mep/
  13. Wow, that's news to me. I hadn't heard that they were planning on changing Algebra to a textbook format. I guess it won't affect us though. Thanks for reporting back.
  14. That's good to hear. I wasn't even sure of the quality of the new algebra since it is a "preliminary edition". Guess I will be back here in a few years time asking what people have done after CLE Algebra  Or maybe they will have released Algebra II by then! Thanks
  15. I know exactly what you mean :) So does anyone choose anything else other than saxon for their post CLE math? Also, it worries me that I can't do two years of Algebra with the updated editions; only the first one has been updated. Does it matter?
  16. I actually like the look of Saxon because there are dvd and cd rom options which would help me teach it. I will be giving her the placement test soon just to see how the two curriculum compare. Thanks again :)
  17. Thanks :) actually I should have mentioned that she struggles a bit with math. She's working below grade level. I wouldn't be surprised if she tested into a pre algebra level if I were to try out the placement tests of other curriculum. Short term goal is lay a strong foundation so she is ready for algebra, whenever she is ready for algebra. She's not likely to head into a STEM career but obviously I want her to do the best with math that she can. A lot of CLE users move into saxon. Not sure if that is the way we will go though. Yes, we might go into CLE 8. Still not sure about their algebra though. The fact that they haven't updated algebra II makes me pause.
