  1. Has anyone used the History of Classical Music by Beautiful Feet? I am wondering if it is worth the money. It looks really good! Thanks, Lori
  2. Ours is up. It is kind of wimpy this week.:)
  3. I just posted ours too! Ds7's first pinewood derby and first trophy ever!:)
  4. Awesome ideas! Thank you!:) I will be looking into a lot of those links. Thanks!
  5. We have been doing Rod and Staff English now for 3 years. My daughter is desperate for a change.:tongue_smilie: She will be finishing English 5 this year. What is another good grammar program?? She has also just started Writing Tales 2. So, we just need a grammar program. Thanks, Lori
  6. Is there a way just to buy the Lego Star Wars and Indiana Jones figures?? My boys are dying for these little guys. They would love the big set, which we can't afford, but they really just want the guys that come with them. They like to make their own little ships and cars. I have looked at Lego's website and don't see them listed. The ones on Ebay are way over priced in my opinion. Just wondering if anyone knows if these are available. Thanks, Lori
  7. Ours is up. Not a whole lot to report but some school got done!:)
  8. I like it alright. I was kind of freaked out in the beginning but soon realized I didn't use half of what was in the printed version. I just print out a couple of weeks worth of book lists at a time. Reserve my books at the library and then print out only the worksheets that I need. I am not a big fan of reading the teacher notes online instead of in print but I am adapting. Over all, I am satisfied with it. HTH, Lori
  9. Dr Lane is who we saw today!!! That is so awesome. That makes me feel so much better that there are people out there that use his book! We saw our local optometrist yesterday and saw Dr. Lane today. I was very impressed with him but the cost is going to kill us. I will be looking into his book. Now that we are home and have had time to think over all the info that was thrown at us today stuff is starting to make more since. Dh and I were so overwhelmed at the office today. My son has a lazy eye. He had a name for it but I could not even begin to spell it!
  10. Okay, we just got back from having ds's eyes tested for the second time this week. He has to have vision therapy. We have NO money to pay for this. No insurance. The doctor told us today that ds will need vision therapy 2 times a week for 1 hour each time. Plus, wear a patch for 3 hours each day AND do therapy at home with us through out the week. The doctor is also about 30 mins away. I was wondering if any of you do any kind of vision therapy at home. I really want to take my ds to the therapist but have no way to pay for it. These sessions are going to be costing us over $600 a month!:001_huh: Thanks, Lori
  11. I really thought dd11 wasn't going to need glasses. We took her to the eye doctor when she was 7. She was in ps at the time and had the teacher and school nurse convinced she needed glasses. So, we took her. When the exam was over the doctor told me "She wants glasses, but she doesn't need glasses". So, when she started complaining about headaches and her eyes being blurry again about a month ago I just thought "here we go again!" but she needs glasses! Ds7 just hates to read. So, I figured since I was taking dd11 in I would take him along just to know for sure there was nothing wrong with his eyes before I MADE him read! Come to find out he needs vision therapy and a strong prescription for being farsighted. I truly thought he was just stubborn. This is the child that refused to try whipped cream!! But once he tasted it he loved it! That is just one example of how stubborn and picky this boy can be. He is so smart. I can not wait till he gets his glasses! He is going to just do even better at his school work. Thanks you all for the encouragement!
  12. That two of my kids need glasses. The doctor said that my ds7's eyes are so bad he is surprised that he learned to read. How in the heck did I miss this? He is also going to have to go to a specialist tomorrow to see if he will need vision therapy! This boy can read way above his age level and play any video game you put in front of him. He hates to read and will not pick up a book unless I force him and he can't write on a line to save his life but I just thought this was just him being stubborn. I love him with all of my heart and he is a wonderful kid but he is the most stubborn person I have ever met!:) Never once has he complained of headaches. I have never seen him squint. I am just feeling some major mommy guilt today!
  13. Fridays are hard around here also. We are gone the whole day with co-op and dance. So, nothing gets done. I am going to try to spread out Friday's list through out the week this week and see how it goes. I am thinking as long as I have the whole things checked off by the end of the week, who cares which day I do them on!:)
  14. Thank you all for all your suggestions. I am going to have to get with dh tonight and go over it with him also. I think we might try the 1 to 2 hours after school and chores and the same for weekends. Ds is only 7. It just feels wrong to let him just play for hours and hours. Video games just seems to be all he can think about. But it isn't bothering his school or chores. So, I hate to put to much of a limit on it. Thanks again. Lori
  15. Ds has had the Nintendo DS for awhile but before Christmas he only hand 2 games. He got a lot more from us and Grandparents for Christmas. So, now he is even more into it. He can not regulate this on his own since the new games. He may not want to play it as much when the new wares off but it doesn't look to be waring off anytime soon!:tongue_smilie: Also, there are no boys that live on our street. He has his brother and sister to play with but even when we are outside playing he is asking the whole time to go get his DS. I am thinking we will try the 1 to 2 hours a day after 3. I think that will be a good starting place. Thanks!
  16. We are having major issues with ds7 about video games. It is my fault. I bought them for him. This is the only thing ds wants to do. The rule has always been that no video games until school and chores are done. He is getting these done with no problem. Even though, he does seem to be able to tie everything we learn about to some video:tongue_smilie:. Since Christmas I can not get him to pick anything to do with his free time other than video games. He even tried to bring his Nintendo DS to dinner one night!:glare: So, I am thinking, that I will let this go on through the weekend and then set some new rules. I am thinking, no Nintendo DS, Wii, or computer at all until after dinner? or not until he has read his free reading book for at least an hour? I am even considering no games except on weekends. I am having a hard time with this because this is something he really loves to do. Also, dh is also very into video games. Since, the Wii showed up at our house I can't get dh to do anything else either!!:tongue_smilie: What is the video game rules in your house?
  17. We are in North Texas. Have 3 kids dd11, ds7 and ds5.
  18. Ours is up. I was very surprised at how well our week went. First week back after a break have never gone this well!:) Lori
  19. I am done with teaching the kiddos today. We got everything for school that was planned done, I have exercised, and did all my Monday chores. I just have to finish our everyday stuff. So far, Monday is turning out great!:)
  20. Today was my first day back into exercising. I did my Power 90 video(aerobic). 30 minutes plus the ab ripper that was another 3 minutes. Feel great. I could still do most of the video. Jumping Jacks were hard but I am more awake this morning and more focused!:) Feeling good.:D Tomorrow I will do the sculpt part of Power 90 plus ab ripper.
  21. The main reason we took our dd out of PS was what she learned at the lunch table in 2nd grade!
  22. This week went very well for us. I got all the boxes checked that applied to us. My real test will be next week when we add school in plus dance, Cub Scouts, piano, and co-op!! I am hoping I will learn to use my time wisely!:)
